Burglary Suspect Charged After Police Standoff

The Skokie man is accused of fleeing and pointing a BB gun at police.

EVANSTON, IL - Police in Evanston have made an arrest in Tuesday afternoon’s barricade situation that closed traffic in the area of Asbury Avenue for hours.

Justin W. Cunnea-Lamerdin, 25, of Skokie brandished what was later found out to be a BB gun at officers who were called to the 1300 block of Asbury for a call of a garage being opened at a vacant home around 1:55 p.m. that day, according to police, who found Cunnea-Lamerdin inside the home pulling down exposed copper wire. After a foot chase that progressed through private property, police fired two rounds at Cunnea-Lamerdin, causing him to drop the gun.
