The Wildcats could not tame the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The 2016-17 basketball season for Northwestern University - one that will surely go down as one of the most memorable in program history - has come to an end.
Clock struck midnight for the Cinderella Wildcats on Saturday when the team was eliminated by top-seeded Gonzaga University, 79-73 in Salt Lake City in the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball tournament.
Northwestern fell behind big early on and trailed at 18 at halftime. And although halftime analysts on CBS declared it "over" for Northwestern at that point, the team rallied in the second half and came within three points of the heavily favored Bulldogs at one point.

The Wildcats completed their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament in fighting fashion just two days after earning their first ever tournament win by pulling out a 68-66 thriller against Vanderbilt University.
