ETHS to Move House on Monday

A single-family home will travel across town as part of ETHS' "Geometry in Construction" class.

EVANSTON, IL - For the second time in as many years, a house will be on the move in Evanston. 

The “Geometry in Construction” class at Evanston Township High School will move a single-family home from the school at 1600 Dodge Ave. to 2142 Dewey Ave. on Monday as part of a collaboration with the city and Community Partners for Affordable Housing, according to a city memo. The house will eventually be sold to someone who makes less than 120 percent of the city’s median income.

The move will begin on Monday, June 13 at 9 a.m. and travel east on Lake Street, north on Dodge Avenue, east on Simpson Street, north on Ashland Avenue, and west on Payne Street.

Parking will be prohibited on the route during the move. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Payne Street west of Dewey Avenue and Dewey Avenue north of Payne Street will be closed.
