Man Shot In 2nd Evanston Drive-By In 6 Hours
Someone opened fire from a white car on Ashbury Avenue Monday evening, police said.

EVANSTON, IL — Detectives are investigating a second drive-by shooting that took place about six hours apart Monday in Evanston. Investigators do not believe the two shootings are related, and both people shot were expected to survive, according to police.
In the second incident, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Asbury Avenue at 6:50 p.m. in response to multiple calls that someone had just been shot in the chest, according to police.
Police said arriving officers discovered a 24-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of this chest.

Preliminary results of the investigation suggest the man was standing on the sidewalk when someone began shooting from a white car headed north on Ashbury Avenue, according to police.

In the earlier incident, a 28-year-old woman was shot in the chest and arm while she was a passenger in a car travelling down Howard Street around 12:45 p.m. Another car pulled up and opened fire, police said.
No description of that vehicle or any potential suspects was available from police, who asked anyone who has any information about either shooting to call detectives at 847-866-5040 or text EPDTIP followed by a tip to 274637.
At least five people have been shot in Evanston so far in 2020, with an aggravated battery with a firearm charge filed in one incident so far.
