Party Like It's 1990: ETHS Softball Beats New Trier
The Wildkits win over the Trevians Tuesday night in Winnetka was 26 years in the making.

WINNETKA, IL - When the final out was made in an Evanston Township High School softball victory over New Trier on Tuesday, it marked the first time the Wildkits beat the Trevians since long before any of the players on the field were born.
ETHS took advantage of a defensive collapse by the Trevians in the seventh inning, tallying four runs en route to a 6-2 Central Suburban League South division victory on the road, according to ETHS Sports Information.

The win was the first for Evanston softball over New Trier since 1990, and only the third victory in the series since ETHS established its softball program in the 1970s.
"You have to give a lot of credit to these kids," ETHS head coach Katie Perkins said. "I'm a relative newcomer here and it was always baffling to me the amount of credit that the Evanston community gave to New Trier in softball. Teams that played against them in the past were not able to pull through and beat them, and for some reason when I heard our athletes talk about playing against them, it sounded different."
The historic win for the Wildkits (14-5 overall) was also the seventh straight triumph for the team, pulling them into a first place tie in the CSL standings with the Trevians.
