Man Tries To Swallow Heroin During Traffic Stop: Police

Evergreen Park police said the Burbank man tried to destroy evidence by swallowing a bag full of heroin capsules.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — A Burbank man driving on a revoked driver’s license tried to destroy evidence by attempting to swallow a bag of heroin during a traffic stop in Evergreen Park, prosecutors said. Edward S. Beushausen, 62, appeared before Cook County Judge John Mahoney on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving on a revoked license.

Around 4:30 p.m. June 27, Evergreen Park police curbed Beushausen for alleged traffic violations. While speaking to Beushausen, the prosecutor said officers noticed him holding a plastic bag filled with capsules. Beushausen allegedly knotted the bag and tried to swallow it, but officers were able to stop him. The bag contained 13 heroin-filled capsules, according to police.

The prosecutor said Beushausen has seven prior misdemeanors, including a 2013 DUI conviction, and four prior violations for driving on a suspended license. Beushausen was released on a $10,000 I-bond.
