Construction Crew Cuts Through Cables, Causes Phone, Internet Outage at 3 Geneva Schools

A construction crew accidentally cut through underground fiber optic cables Wednesday while working on the Randall Road traffic signalization project near Christina Lane, causing phone and internet outage at three Geneva schools.
Geneva Middle School North, Geneva Middle School South and Fabyan Elementary School were without phone and internet Wednesday, according to the Geneva Community Unit School District 304 Facebook page.
Crews still are assessing damage to the fiber cables, but a preliminary estimate for service restoration could be between two to four days, according to a city of Geneva press release.
