Former Doctor Charged With Rape Pleads Guilty To Drug Charge
Mark G. Lewis will now be sentenced on March 2.

KANE COUNTY, IL – A former Geneva doctor accused of raping a woman while she slept at his home pleaded guilty Wednesday in a separate drug case, according to media reports. Mark G. Lewis could now face prison time after admitting guilt to charges of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of a firearm while his Firearm Owner's Identification card was revoked.
The most serious charge carries a maximum 30-year prison sentence, according to the Daily Herald. Lewis's drug case had been set for a bench trial on Thursday before he entered his blind plea on Wednesday. The blind plea is a guilty plea where no plea bargain with prosecutors has been arranged and which leaves the sentencing decision in the judge's hands.
Lewis was arrested at his practice in Geneva in June 2014 for accusations he sexually assaulted a woman he knew, according to media reports. He is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his former St. Charles home following a party, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Lewis was free on bond in a sexual assault case when the drug bust occurred.
A Kane County judge revoked his bail in the sexual assault case after the drug charges were filed and Lewis remains locked up at the Kane County jail as court proceedings continue in both cases.

In 2016, the former doctor's medical license was revoked for engaging in sexually inappropriate conduct with multiple patients of his practice and inappropriate prescribing of controlled substances to numerous individuals," according to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
