The man is accused of claiming to be an off-duty officer investigating a series of car burglaries, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

A Geneva man is expected to make a court appearance this week after police said he went to a home in his neighborhood and told several people he was an officer investigating car burglaries, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

Tommy W. Selover, of 612 Euckland St., is charged with felony impersonating a police officer and driving while license revoked.

Police said he waved down a woman in the 500 block of Stevens Street in Geneva, told her he was an off-duty officer and asked her about the car burglaries, according to the newspaper. Others joined the conversation and ended up reporting Selover to police after asking him to show them his police badge.
