Geneva Man Pleads Guilty to Videotaping Sex Acts With Minor

A 23-year-old Geneva man could face between 10 and 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to videotaping sexual acts between him and a minor he knew, prosecutors said.

Robert R. Schamne, of the 1000 block of Manchester Course, entered guilty pleas last week in Kane County Court to charges of child pornography, a class X felony, and criminal sexual assault, a class 1 felony, according to a Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office press release. As a part of his sentence, he will have to register for life as a sexual offender.

Between Nov. 18, 2012, and April 3, 2013, Schamne is accused of videotaping an ”act of sexual penetration” between him and the victim, who is younger than 18 years old, according to the news release.

He remains in the Kane County Jail on a $300,000 bail.
