Geneva Man Sentenced for Videotaping Sex Acts Between Him, Minor

The sexual assault and videotaping took place over a six-month period in 2012.

A 23-year-old Geneva man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for videotaping sexual acts between him and a male minor he knew, according to the Daily Herald

Robert R. Schamne, of the 1000 block of Manchester Course, entered guilty pleas in August in Kane County Court to charges of child pornography, a class X felony, and criminal sexual assault, a class 1 felony, according to a Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office press release. As a part of his sentence, he will have to register for life as a sexual offender.

Between Nov. 18, 2012, and April 3, 2013, Schamne is accused of videotaping an ”act of sexual penetration” between him and the victim, who is younger than 18 years old, according to the news release.

The sexual assaults and videotaping took place over a six-month period, the Daily Herald reports. Prior to handing down his sentence, Kane County Judge John Barsanti watched the 13-minute video recording, according to the Daily Herald.

Schamne faced between 10 and 45 years in prison on the charges.
