Halloween, Dias De Los Muertos Events Coincide At Geneva Commons

This weekend's spooky event will feature a petting zoo, corn maze, family-friendly activities and sweet treats.

GENEVA, IL — This Saturday will be a busy one at Geneva Commons. The mall is hosting coinciding celebrations for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos Saturday.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests can enjoy a variety of activities, from a petting zoo and corn maze to moon jumps, balloon sculpting and face painting. It's an event the whole family can enjoy, organizers said.

"Spooky season is in full force this year and Geneva Commons is ready with an eerie-sistable celebration," officials said in a news release. "Guests are encouraged to dress in their best costume and enjoy all the ghoulish fun."

Aurora-based Ballet Folklorico Quetzalcoatl will perform for the crowd, while Midwest Fun Factory will work the face-painting station. Special characters are also scheduled to make an appearance.

Sweet treats will be plentiful, with LG Creation's Chi Snack Bar providing snacks and other vendors giving out cotton candy, pan de muerto and more.

In honor of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead — typically celebrated Nov. 1-2 — organizers are putting together an Ofrenda photo opportunity to give visitors a spot to capture moments.
