Jury Finds Shadwick King Guilty of Murder in Wife's Death
Jury took five hours before returning verdict.

A jury late Monday found a Geneva man guilty of murdering his wife and leaving her body along railroad tracks.
The jurors deliberated for five hours before deciding Shadwick King, 47, suffocated his wife Kathleen, 32, whose body was found on the Union Pacific Railway tracks south of Esping Park on July 6. Authorities said Kathleen died of asphyxiation at some point after 5 a.m. on July 6.
Prosecutors said King killed her in a jealous rage over her possible involvement with another man. On Monday, King took the stand in his own defense, describing his wife as a “great mom, great wife, great friend.”

“This is a classic case of domestic violence,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joseph McMahon said in a written statement. “This is no morality play; this is jealousy and rage.”
King is due back in court on May 6 and faces 20 to 60 years in prison.
