Man Charged for Operating Large-Scale Marijuana Grow Operation At Home

Police found 463 live marijuana plants and over 6,000 grams of packaged marijuana at the St. Charles Township home.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested after police found 463 live marijuana plants and over 6,000 grams of packaged marijuana in his St. Charles Township home this past week, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office press release. 

David Robbins, of 38W0501 Mallard Lake Road in unincorporated St. Charles Township, has been charged with manufacturing/delivery of marijuana, possession of marijuana more than 5,000 grams, production of marijuana plants more than 200 and a violation of an order of protection.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office Special Operation Unit on Wednesday executed a search warrant at Robbins’ home where a search turned up the large-scale indoor grow operation in his garage, the basement and the main floor of the residence, according to sheriff’s office press release.

The estimated street value of the marijuana and grow operation was about $500,000, according to police.

Detectives also located two handguns and one rifle in the house. Police learned during the course of their investigation that Robbins had an active order of protection against him that stipulated he must turn over any and all guns to his local police department, according to the news release.

Robbins is being held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center on a $150,000 bond.
