Police Announce Results from Kane Co. Roadside Safety Check

The roadside safety check was held on the westbound I-90 ramp at Route 31 in Elgin.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) District 15 announced the results of a Roadside Safety Check (RSC) held during the late evening hours of Saturday, October 25, and early morning hours of Sunday, October 26.

The detail was conducted by ISP District 15 officers on the ramp carrying westbound Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) traffic to Illinois Route 31.

Alcohol is involved in nearly 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois. RSCs are designed to remove alcohol-impaired drivers.

However, when other violations are observed such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken. The following citations were issued at the safety check:

  • Registration offenses: 3 warnings
  • Insurance offenses: 11 arrests
  • Driver’s license offenses: 5 arrests
  • Equipment offenses: 2 warnings
  • Occupant Restraint offenses: 6 arrests, 2 warnings
  • Driving under the influence arrests: 2 arrests
  • Other alcohol/drug arrests: 4 arrests
  • Other IVC offenses:1 arrests
  • Other Criminal arrests: 1 arrest
