Flooding, More Storms Expected Today

A flash flood watch is in effect throughout the day.

More storms are expected throughout the suburbs Monday.

A flash flood watch has been issued for Cook, Kane, DuPage, Lake, McHenry and Will counties through late tonight.

After storms swept through the suburbs this morning, two more rounds of thunderstorms are expected throughout the day Monday. The first is expected to hit mid-morning and the second is expected this afternoon.

Torrential rainfall is expected with one to three inches expected with even more rain possible in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

ORIGINAL STORY: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for several counties in Northern Illinois this morning.

The warning area includes Northern DeKalb, Southern Boone, Southern McHenry, Northern Cook, Eastern Ogle, Southern Lake, Northern DuPage and Kane counties. The warning will remain in effect until 6:45 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

At 6:12 a.m., a line of severe storms was located along a line extending from near Malta to Park City moving southeast at 40 mph.

Up to 70 mph winds are expected during the storm. Tree damage and damage to mobile homes and roofs could occur during the storm.

Torrential rainfall is also expected that could lead to flooding.
