Glen Ellyn Market Français Features Bulldog Parade, Street Mimes and French Cuisine

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Third Annual Glen Ellyn Market Français will fill the Glen Ellyn Civic Center Gymnasium with prancing mimes, parading French bulldogs and —of course— an array of authentic French foods. The Market Français welcomes villagers on Wednesday April 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dozens of local vendors will be on hand at the event and there are several activities planned to immerse villagers in the vibrant culture of France.

The entertainment includes a French street mime performing and twisting balloons for children and a former Disney World caricature artists sketching live caricatures throughout the event. Villagers can see an antique 1937 Bugatti, which offers a unique opportunity for a family photo or selfie.

There are also some interactive festivities slated for the Glen Ellyn Market Français . At 6:30 p.m. a group of rescued French bulldogs will prance through the grounds for a brief parade and a meet and greet with attendees. Visitors can also explore France virtually at a virtual reality center set up by the Glen Ellyn Public Library. This exhibit is appropriate for adults and children ages 8 and older. Parents must sign a virtually reality waiver for children ages 8 to 18.

The piece de resistance of the event will be the official unveiling of the Sister City Mural. This mural —hand-painted by Glen Ellyn villagers— will depict the city’s relationship with its French sister city, Le Bouscat. It will be on display at the village after the Market Français comes to a close.

Throughout the event, visitors can get their fill of crepes from Euro Crepes, bon bons from Chocolaterie Stam and Parisian wine from local wineries. Handmade goods will also be available. Other vendors include:
