Glen Ellyn, Wheaton Make Thrillist.com's List of Suburbs That 'Suck'

Have you ever wondered if your suburb sucks?

Apparently, Thrillist.com has, and has gone so far this week as to launch its own “investigation” into which suburban towns truly “suck.” The list is lengthy and includes jabs at several suburban towns -- many of which are affluent and most of which the website deems boring.

And, yes, Glen Ellyn and Wheaton did make their list.

According to Thrillist.com, a website that targets Chicago readers, here is why it included Wheaton:

Home to the least-fun college in America and a bunch of other people who... aren’t really that much better.

And, the reason behind Glen Ellyn’s spot on the list:

Remember in Swingers, when Jon Favreau is awkwardly trying to order Scotch in Vegas and just blurts out “any of the Glens”. Replace the cocktail waitress with a realtor and that’s how you end up in Glen Ellyn.

Other suburban towns that got called out for ”sucking” include: Elmhurst, Westmont, Downers Grove, St. Charles, Hinsdale, Oak Park, Naperville, Schaumburg and several more.

The Thrillist.com article received dozens of comments from those who agreed with the towns on the list and others who would have liked to see their town make it.

Meanwhile, a lot of the commenters took offense to the entire article. While others got a good laugh. Here is what one commenter had to say:

Man, people get really touchy about their towns. I found this light-hearted worth a skim just for the heck of it. People gotta lighten up!
