Holiday Movies, Santa Visits, More: Festive Fun In Glen Ellyn
See what the village has planned to help residents get into the holiday spirit during the 2022 season.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The winter holidays are upon us, which means it's time to mark those calendars for the 2022 Glen Ellyn tree lighting, holiday movies and other festive events planned throughout the village.
Tree Lighting and Holiday Walk Nov. 25
Downtown Glen Ellyn will be all aglow on Nov. 25 for the village's 2022 Holiday Walk and Tree Lighting ceremony. The festivities, which also include photos with Santa, will kick off at 5 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Crescent Avenue.

A Polar Market will be held at Polar Plaza from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., offering gifts to purchase for loved ones this holiday season. Polar Plaza will open for ice skating at 12 p.m. on Nov. 25.

The Glen Art Theatre, 540 Crescent Blvd., will continue its tradition of showing free holiday movies on select Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. throughout the season. The 2022 holiday movie schedule is as follows:
- Nov 26: Elf
- Dec. 3: Polar Express
- Dec. 10: Arthur Christmas
- Dec. 17: Dr. Seuss' The Grinch

Toys for Tots Drive with Characters Dec. 4
Superheroes, princesses and other characters will be at Ackerman SFC, 800 St. Charles Rd. on Dec. 4 for the Toys for Tots Drive with Characters. The toy drive will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with the goal of collecting enough new, unwrapped toys to surpass last year's achievement of 600 donations.
Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt Dec. 15
Limited spots remain for the 5 p.m. slot of the Glen Ellyn Park District's Candy Cane Hunt, slated for Dec. 15 at the Main Street Recreation Center, 501 Hill Ave. As of Nov. 10, the later time slot was already at capacity.
Visitors can snack on cookies and sip hot cocoa while they make holiday crafts before heading outside to hunt for candy canes with the help of their own flashlights and headlamps. The event, geared for kids from eight to 12 years old, is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents.

Santa on the Stoop
If you're a resident of the Glen Ellyn Park District, Santa Claus can pay a visit to your home on Dec. 17 or Dec. 18 between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. He will drop off a gift and spend about 10 minutes visiting with children ages two to 12 years old on their porches before heading to his next stop. Santa will stop at 80 homes each day.
The cost for a Santa visit is $25 for one kid and $12 for each additional kid.
