Latest Glen Ellyn Coronavirus Update: 10 Cases Confirmed

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The new coronavirus outbreak in Illinois and across the nation is having a vast impact on Glen Ellyn, forcing the temporary closure of schools, businesses, parks and playgrounds.

As of Wednesday, the village has 10 confirmed cases of coronavirus. At press time, there are 438 coronavirus cases in DuPage County and 13 patients have died from complications.

The news comes as the number of total coronavirus cases in Illinois is at 6,980. As of early Thursday, the statewide death toll was at 146. Governor J.B. Pritzker extended his stay-at-home order Tuesday through April 30.

SCHOOLS

All schools in Illinois will remain closed through at least April 30 per Pritzker's extended stay-at-home order. MORE.

BUSINESSES

Per the governor's order, restaurants are closed for in-person dining, but many Glen Ellyn restaurants are still offering orders for delivery or pickup.

HOSPITALS

In the wake of the coronavirus crisis, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and Edward Hospital have put temporary no-visitor policies in place to help ensure the health and safety of the staff and community. Exceptions may be made, including for pediatric care, end-of-life care and other circumstances.

CLOSURES AND CANCELLATIONS

Coronavirus has led to a number of closures and cancellations throughout the village. As of mid-March, the Glen Ellyn Civic Center was closed for in-person visits. MORE.
