Teen Hurt In Fire Pit Explosion Attends 'Prom,' Thanks To Friends

Friends of one of the Glendale Heights fire pit explosion victims made sure she got to experience prom despite her injuries.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A Glenbard East High School student who was badly burned in last month's fire pit explosion at a Glendale Heights home was able to attend "prom" thanks to her friends. WLS-TV says 15-year-old Korryn Bachner had to spend days in the hospital due to severe burns to her face and hands from the April 28 incident, forcing her to skip her school's prom.

But the prom was brought to Bachner when her date decorated her basement and her friends came over before attending their prom, WLS-TV reports.

While doctors expect Korryn Bachner to completely recover, it will take months. WLS-TV reports Bachner's best friends are still hospitalized, with her father told the news source that there were "tears" during Saturday's emotional dance in her basement.
