Surgeon Dinee Simpson, MD, a specialist in liver and kidney transplants, has joined Loyola Medicine.
"It's a very rewarding field," Dr. Simpson said. "Before their transplant operations, kidney patients have to undergo dialysis treatments three times a week and liver patients typically are very ill. Transplants restore them to good health, and patients often tell me they can feel the difference shortly after their
transplants."
Dr. Simpson said she talks to her patients as if they were family members. "I keep the medical jargon to a
minimum," she said. "I draw pictures and take a lot of time explaining how their lives will change for the better."
