10 Months Later, Identity Thief Nabbed: Glenview Crime Reports
Winnetka woman accused of drunk driving; Evanston man gets "continuing financial crime enterprise" charge: Glenview PD Blotter April 4-10

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
SCAM ATTEMPT
A Sequoia Trail resident reported on the morning of on April 3 that they had gotten a call from someone claiming that a relative had been in a car accident and needed money sent for insurance. No money was sent.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Greenfield Drive resident reported on the morning of April 3 someone used their personal information to apply for a credit card from eight different banks. There was no reported loss.
STOLEN CAR FOUND
A vehicle police found parked in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. on April 3 was determined to be reported stolen out of Chicago after a check of law enforcement databases.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Ferndale Road resident reported at 5:32 p.m. on April 3 that someone had used their personal information to open a credit card and order merchandise for a reported loss of $1,700.
FRAUD
A Wildberry Lane resident reported on the evening of April 3 that they had been notified that a refund was available, so they applied for the refund electronically. Later, someone contacted them and demanded payment or the computer would be locked. The total amount of loss was not known at the time of the report.
BATTERY
A taxicab driver reported at 12:42 a.m. that a passenger was refusing to leave the cab and struck him with a cane in the 2600 block of Lehigh Avenue.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 600 block of Wissing Lane reported at 12:13 p.m. on April 4 that someone had broken into their house in the morning hours by breaking a door before stealing electronics and jewelry for a reported loss of over $3,000.
RUSE HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 2400 block of Pfingsten Road reported shortly before 3 p.m. on April 4 that an unidentified man had entered their house to "talk about her property lines." The resident discovered $200 worth of jewelry was missing after he left.
SHOPLIFTING
An employee in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 3:53 p.m. on April 4 that someone stole multiple bottles of cologne worth $180 from a display counter.
THEFT
A shopper in 100 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:53 a.m. on April 5 that someone had stolen a purse from a shopping cart for a loss of $650.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident of the 1700 block of Elmdale Avenue reported at 12:15 p.m. on April 4 that someone had broken the "For Sale" in their front yard at a cost of $75.
LIQUOR CITATION
An employee of a business in the 2600 block of Aviator Lane was ticketed for selling alcohol to a minor after an investigation involving the Illinois Liquor Commission.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Sequoia Trail resident reported on the morning of April 6 that someone had opened a fraudulent telephone account using their personal information for a loss of $180.
THEFT
A resident in the 3800 block of Lindenwood Lane reported shortly before 10 a.m. on April 6 that someone removed purses and a check from the house without permission for a reported loss of $2,500.
UNWANTED PERSON
An employee in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 10:50 a.m. on April 6 that a customer was yelling and being disruptive in the store.
TRESPASSING
An employee in the 1400 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 9:44 a.m. on April 7 that a customer had become irate over slow delivery.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Lincoln Street resident reported on the afternoon of April 7 that someone opened a fraudulent account using their personal information and used it to buy various merchandise for a loss of $1,500.
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
A resident in the 2000 block of Larkdale Drive reported at 11:27 a.m. on March 9 that they had gotten unwanted telephone calls.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident in the 2200 block of Fir Street reported at 5:43 p.m. on April 9 that someone had written the letter “A” on the hood of their car with an unspecified substance.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 1700 block of Rogers Avenue reported at 8:49 p.m. on April 9 that someone had broken into their house by forcing open a door and stole more than $3,000 worth of property.
ARRESTS
Arthur Mitchell, 29, of the 1600 block of North Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 8:08 a.m. on April 2 and charged with an outstanding fugitive warrant issued by Cook County following a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
A 24-year-old Evanston woman was arrested shortly before 11 p.m. on April 2 in the 4000 block of East Lake Avenue and charged with driving an uninsured vehicle with a suspended license.
Elmo S. Hatfield, 41, of the 2000 block of Dewey Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 4:36 p.m. on April 4 and charged with continuing financial crime enterprise after an investigation into several reports of shoplifting from the Mariano's in the 0-100 block of Waukegan Road.

Video surveillance reportedly shows Hatfield stealing approximately $500 worth of alcohol from the grocery store on several occasions on March 19 and March 20 in 2018. He was arrested at his home.
Melvin Lozado, 47, of the 6200 block of Broadway Street in Chicago, was taken into custody at 10 p.m. on April 4 at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse and charged with identity theft following an investigation that began last year.

An Annapolis Drive resident reported that someone had used their personal information to open an account on June 11, 2017. Lozado reportedly racked up more than $2,500 in bills at an Evanston Best Buy and a Chicago Target store.
21-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 11:13 p.m. on April 4 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. He was also ticketed for not having a rear license plate light and having a small amount of marijuana.
A 50-year-old Glenview man was arrested at 11:16 p.m. on April 4 and charged with driving with a suspended license and without insurance after cops stopped to check on a disable vehicle in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
A 50-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 5:45 p.m. on April 6 following a traffic stop in the 200 block of Greenwood Road and charged with driving while license is revoked.
Hyunjung Park, 35, of the 8000 block of Glen Oak Drive in Winnetka, was arrested at 2:07 a.m. on April 8 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Landwehr Road. She turned over her drivers license and was also ticketed for improper lane use.
