SKOKIE, IL — Two suburban men have been charged with attempted murder and armed robbery in connection with a shooting last month outside a Glenview home, police said. According to prosecutors, a botched drug robbery arranged on social media led to the shooting, which sent a bullet into a neighboring house.

Syre Perry, 23, of the 2800 block of Cedar Glade Drive, Naperville, was taken into custody by Chicago police Friday afternoon on the North Side on a warrant issued on behalf of Glenview police.

Adam Wolf, 23, of the 300 block of Parkview Terrace, Buffalo Grove, turned himself in Saturday morning at the Glenview Police Department, according to police.

Both men face identical charges in connection with the Dec. 7 incident in the 1900 block of Palmgren Drive. Prosecutors said Wolf made arrangements on Snapchat to buy several grams of cocaine from the man who was shot.

That evening, officers found a 23-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He had gone out to the street to meet someone before running back inside and asking someone to call 911 because he had just been shot, police said at the time. The attackers were initially described as a group of three men in a light-colored Buick. Prosecutors said Tuesday Perry was riding in the front passenger seat and Wolf was a passenger in the rear at the time of the shooting.

While Wolf was using a scale to weigh a 3.5-gram bag of cocaine, Perry pointed a gun at the dealer and demanded cash, according to prosecutors.

The car's child locks prevented the man from escaping, but after he explained he had no money, Wolf and Perry agreed to let him go, prosecutors said.

Perry got out of the car and opened the rear driver's side door to allow the man being robbed to get out, according to prosecutors. Instead, he tried to take back the cocaine from Wolf, who asked Perry to help.

Prosecutors said evidence will show Perry fired two shots at the drug dealer he and Wolf had set out to rob. One shot struck the man in the abdomen. The other bullet struck a neighbor's home.

Once inside, the fleeing victim noticed he was bleeding profusely and realized he had been shot. He was treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound that passed through his abdomen, authorities said.

Initially, police said the victim was not cooperative with the investigation. Subpoenas were issued, and detectives obtained electronic evidence that helped lead to the charges, according to police.

Records show Perry was ordered held without bond Monday ahead of his next court appearance Jan. 22.

Wolf was ordered held in lieu of a $50,000 cash portion of his bail Tuesday. He remained in custody Wednesday morning, and his next court date was scheduled for Feb. 11.
