GLENVIEW, IL — There's a variety of Halloween events planned for Glenview this year. Spooky activities sponsored by local park districts and community groups get underway Oct. 20 and run until the end of the month.

The Fall Family Festival at Carillon Square Mall is set to include a bounce house, face painting, balloons, a DJ, taffy apples, pumpkins, snacks, promotions and giveaways. This event is free to everyone. (Noon - 4 p.m., 1400 Waukegan Rd., free)

Halloween Spooktacular will be a family-friendly indoor party for kids ages 2-10. It will include inflatables, entertainment, face-painting, tattoos, games, crafts and snacks. Costumes are optional but parents must accompany children. (5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Glenview Park District, 2400 Chestnut Avenue, $10 per child, adults and kids 2 and under are free)
Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22
Halloween Painting is taking place all over Glenview the week before Halloween. The Glenview Chamber of Commerce is seeking interested business owners with windows and students in first through eighth grade seeking to paint them. Friday, Oct. 27
The 3rd Annual OLPH Trunk or Treat is set to take place in the parking lot of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. There will be treats, food, music and a raffle. Start off your family's Halloween fun by gathering treats in one spot from a collection of festively decorated cars and trunks for kids of all ages. Food available for purchase. (5 p.m. - 7 p.m., 1775 Grove St., $5 per trick-or-treater.)
Saturday, Oct. 28
For Abt’s Family-Fun Halloween Party, dress in your best costume for trick or treating, enjoy scrumptious sweets, craft a personalized picture frame, decorate a spooky bat and take a ghoulish, family portrait along with other perfect seasonal photo opps at Abt Electronics. Abt has planned a spooky, fun-filled day with trick-or-treating, customizable bags and, if your sweet tooth craves more, you can create your best scary treat at their cupcake decorating station.
The Boo Bash at the Glen Town Center is a free, family-friendly event. Candy stations will be available and marked with balloons. (3 p.m. - 6 p.m., 2030 Tower Dr., free.)
Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28
The Haunted House at Youth Services will be open two nights during the pre-Halloween weekend. Attendees can enjoy family fun, refreshments and a haunted house, which is recommended for age eight and up. Dress in costume and show off your Halloween spirit. In addition to the house, there will be face painting, arts & crafts, games, a movie and more. Buy tickets for Friday or Saturday. (5 p.m. - 8 p.m. both days, Youth Services, 3080 West Lake Ave., tickets $8 in advance, $10 at the door)
Sunday, Oct. 29
A Family Halloween will feature a variety of spooky shenanigans at Historic Wagner Farm. Don your favorite costume to the family-friendly bash including a haunted barn, wagon rides, pumpkin games and other ghoulish fun. Harvest treats and snacks will be available to purchase. Advance tickets required. (4 p.m. - 7 p.m., Historic Wagner Farm, 1510 Wagner Rd., kids and adults $6.25, children under 2 free)
Monday, Oct. 30
The Halloween Monster Mash is a a free afternoon event with Steve Frenzel of Marquee Film Talks. Frenzel will highlight and discuss movie clips featuring: Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein and other spooky characters in this celebration of classic movie monsters. Halloween refreshments will be served and costumes are encouraged. Advanced registration is required, call 847-724-4793 for more information. (1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., Park Center, East Wing, 2400 Chestnut Ave., free)
Tuesday, Oct. 31
Trick or Treat hours in Glenview run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Parents, guardians or caretakers should accompany children (or send an older sibling) and make sure they don't enter anyone's home without your permission.
