2017 Northbrook Halloween Events Guide

Find trick-or-treat times and other Halloween-related events on Chicago's North Shore.

NORTHBROOK, IL — There's a variety of Halloween events planned in Northbrook this year. Spooky activities sponsored by local towns, park districts, libraries and community groups run until the end of the month.

Thursday, Oct. 19

With Electr-o-lanterns, supercharge your Halloween decorations with custom lights and sounds using the Arduino microprocessor. Aimed for kids 13 and up, it's a great family project for learning basic electronics and coding. Participants can also check out a kit for their pumpkins, too. Family members are invited but there is a limit of 8 kits. Register online. (6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Pollak Room AB, 1201 Cedar Lane, free)

The Halloween Spooktacular at the North Suburban YMCA will feature a haunted house, costume contests, indoor trick-or-treating, bounce houses, scary mazes and photo booths. (2 p.m. - 5 p.m., 2705 Techny Rd., free for members, $20 per nonmember family)


Friday, Oct. 27

The Halloween Lunch and Bingo at the Northbrook Leisure Center is aimed at those ages 55 and up. Treat yourself to a spooky good time with a Halloween lunch and bingo with prizes. There will be awards for the best costumes. (11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., 3323 Walters Ave., $10 members, $15 non members)

A Halloween Story Fest will take place at the Northbrook Public Library, and costumes are encourages. Come for a celebration filled with crafts stories and fun. Registration required. (3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m., 1201 Ceder Ln., free)

A Halloween film screening is set for just after the conclusion of trick-treating. The surprise selection will be fun for the whole family. (7 p.m - 8:45 p.m., Northbrook Public Library Auditorium, 1201 Cedar Ln., free)

Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29

The Un-Haunted Forest will be held at the River Trail Nature Center. Come in costume for a magical hike through the forest and a Halloween treat. Registration is required for both Sat. and Sun. (1:30 p.m., 3120 Milwaukee Ave., $1 per child)

Sunday, Oct. 29

The Kids Club Halloween Party includes mini pumpking painting, a costume contest and bowling. Recommended for kids ages 4 and up. (10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Pinstripes, 1150 Willow Rd., $12 per child including brunch voucher, $6 per adult)

Tuesday, Oct. 31

Trick-or-Treat hours in Northbrook run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Young trick-or-treaters should use sidewalks and be accompanied by a parent, caregiver or older sibling.
