$20K In Jewelry Stolen From Residence; ID Theft Rampant: Blotter

A resident said someone stole $20,000 in jewelry from their home; numerous identity thefts were reported: Glenview Police Blotter.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Rodolfo Alvarez-Chavez, 19, of the 4600 block of South Albany Avenue, Chicago, is accused of speeding (35 mph over the speed limit), and was arrested at 7:50 p.m. Oct. 14 in the 1400 block of East Lake Avenue. He was released on a $3,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Nov. 3.

Uunganbaatar Batmunkh, 18, of the 1400 block of Pebblecreek Drive, Glenview, is accused of battery, obstructing identification, resisting arrest of a peace officer, consumption of alcohol by a minor, and was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Oct. 14 after an investigation of a complaint of loud noise and underage drinking at Roosevelt Park, 2200 Grove St. He was released on a $1,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Nov. 3.

THEFT

Julius Mangrum, 21, of the 3300 block of Crain Street, Skokie, is accused of retail theft, theft, and was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Oct. 16 following a theft investigation at a business in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue. He was released on a $1,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Nov. 17.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS

Patricia Williams, 56, of Rochester, Minnesota, is accused of driving while under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, improper parking on the roadway, and was arrested at 7:44 p.m. Oct. 17 following a complaint of someone slumped over the steering wheel in the 3200 block of East Lake Avenue. She was transported to the Skokie Courthouse for a bond hearing.

  • A resident in the 2200 block of Timothy Drive reported at 9:01 a.m. Oct. 13 someone took a sign from the front lawn. The reported loss is $20.
  • An employee of a business in the 2000 block of John's Drive called police at 11 a.m. Oct. 13 to report someone took vehicle parts from a transport truck. The reported loss is $2,000.
  • A resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive reported at 2:08 p.m. Oct. 14 someone stole four tires and rims from the parking garage. The reported loss is $500.
  • A resident in the 4600 block of Linden Avenue called police at 6:45 a.m. Oct. 15 to report someone stole two signs from their front yard during the overnight hours. The reported loss is $27.
  • An employee of a business in the 1700 block of Glenview Road reported at 10:10 a.m. Oct. 16 someone entered the store and stole a donation jar. The reported loss is $50.
  • A resident in the 1800 block of Kendale Drive called police at 10:42 p.m. Oct. 16 to report selling a computer online. The customer complained and shipped the computer back for a refund. The package did not contain a computer. The reported loss is $200.
  • A resident in the 3100 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 17 someone stole jewelry from their residence. The reported loss is $20,000.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

  • An employee of a business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 2:32 p.m. Oct. 13 to report someone was at the business swearing at the staff.
  • An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 5:36 p.m. Oct. 17 two customers refused to comply with the mask policy and would not leave the property.

BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 900 block of Drake Road called police at 12:47 p.m. Oct. 13 to report someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway at 1:44 a.m. Oct. 12. A sports bag and hat were taken. The reported loss is $550.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of Baffin Road reported at 4:21 p.m. Oct. 13 someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in their open garage at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 11 and took a wallet from inside. The reported loss is $157.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of Baffin Road called police at 1:48 p.m. Oct. 13 to report someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 11 and rummaged through the interior. There is no reported loss.
  • A resident in the 4100 block of Kennicott Lane reported at 7:01 a.m. Oct. 16 someone entered two vehicles parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and took several credit cards. The reported loss is $5.
  • An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Waukegan Road called police at 10:37 p.m. Oct. 16 to report someone entered the business through the rear door and removed a small bag containing money. The reported loss is $200.
  • A resident in the 4100 block of Kennicott Lane reported at 7:46 a.m. Oct. 17 someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway and rummaged through the interior. There is no reported loss.
  • A landscaper working in the 1800 block of Johns Drive called police at 12:03 p.m. Oct. 19 to report someone entered their unlocked vehicle and took a backpack leaf blower and two hedge trimmers from inside between 10 a.m. and noon. The reported loss is $1,500.
  • A landscaper working in the 2600 block of Chestnut Avenue reported at 12:55 p.m. Oct. 19 someone entered their unlocked vehicle and stole a backpack leaf blower, a bed re-definer and string trimmer between 10:30 a.m. and noon. The reported loss is $1,500.

  • A Langley Circle resident called police at 4:36 p.m. Oct. 13 to report receiving a letter from the Illinois Department of Employment Security approving benefits. The resident did not apply for benefits. There is no reported loss.
  • A Palmgren Drive resident reported at 11:14 a.m. Oct. 14 their employer received a filing for unemployment benefits from the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The resident did not file for benefits. There is no reported loss.
  • A Greenwood Road resident called police at 2:36 p.m. Oct. 14 to report someone compromised their prepaid debit card company. The reported loss is $1,200.
  • A Longvalley Drive resident reported at 9:14 a.m. Oct. 15 their employer said they received a letter from the Illinois Department of Employment Security approving unemployment benefits. The resident did not file for benefits. There is no reported loss.
  • A Pfingsten Road resident called police at 9 a.m. Oct. 15 to report their employer said they received a letter from the Illinois Department of Employment Security requesting unemployment benefits. The resident never applied for benefits. There is no reported loss.

  • A Waukegan Road resident reported at 12:17 a.m. Oct. 19 their employer said someone applied for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security using the resident’s personal information. There is no reported loss.

  • A resident in the 2400 block of Covert Road called police at 7:20 a.m. Oct. 14 to report a group of men were picketing on their block.
  • An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Ridge Drive reported at 9:28 a.m. Oct. 16 a customer made threatening statements.
  • A resident in the 3800 block of Michael Lane called police at 5:56 p.m. Oct. 18 to report someone wrote a threat on social media.
  • A resident in the 700 block of Shermer Road reported at 6:54 p.m. Oct. 18 receiving a threat.

AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Westleigh Drive resident called police at 10:03 a.m. Oct. 14 to report receiving a letter from the Illinois Department of Employment Security indicating their unemployment benefits were approved. The resident did not file for benefits. There is no reported loss.
  • A Robincrest Drive resident reported at 4:40 p.m. Oct. 15 receiving a letter and debit card from the Illinois Department of Employment Security stating they filed for unemployment benefits. The resident did not apply for benefits. There is no reported loss.
  • A South Seminole Drive called police at 6:04 p.m. Oct. 17 to report someone made unauthorized purchases after hacking the resident’s computer. The reported loss is $500.
  • A Larkdale Drive resident reported at 3:53 p.m. Oct. 19 receiving a letter from the Illinois Department of employment Security saying unemployment benefits were approved. The resident never applied for benefits. There is no reported loss.

CIVIL MATTER

An employee in the 600 block of Waukegan Road called police at 10:46 a.m. Oct. 14 to report a contractor used substandard materials. The amount of loss is unknown.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

A Waukegan Road resident reported at 10:52 a.m. Oct. 15 someone is calling saying they owe money to their credit card companies. There is no reported loss.

TRESPASS

  • A homeowner in the 600 block of Forest Drive called police at 1:44 p.m. Oct. 15 to report someone was on the property without permission.
  • An employee of a business in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at midnight Oct. 18 an unauthorized person snuck into a suite.

TRAFFIC VIOLATION

A construction worker in the 2400 block of Willow Road called police at 12:58 p.m. Oct. 15 to report a truck driver comes by several times per day and does not stop for the flagger’s stop signs when they are raised.

STOLEN AUTO

A resident in the 2200 block of Greenfield Drive reported at 5:46 p.m. Oct. 16 someone stole an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours. The keys were inside. The reported loss is $34,000.

BATTERY

An employee of a business in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 1:05 a.m. Oct. 18 to report two customers were fighting.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 2400 block of Waukegan Road reported at 8:54 p.m. Oct. 18 someone broke into their residence and took a safe from inside. The reported loss is $430.
  • A resident in the 1300 block of Sanford Lane called police at 5:11 p.m. Oct. 19 to report someone entered their house and took jewelry and valuables from inside. The reported loss is $10,000.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE SUPPORTED PROPERTY

An employee of a business in the 2600 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 2:15 p.m. Oct. 19 someone damaged signs in the parking lot. The amount of loss is unknown.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

A resident in the 2400 block of Waukegan Road called police at 5:18 p.m. Oct. 19 to report receiving inappropriate text messages.
