2nd Driver In Fatal Glenview Crash Receiving Medical Treatment: Police

Police said they are working with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office regarding any charges in a crash that killed a GBS senior.

GLENVIEW, IL — With funeral arrangements scheduled Thursday for Glenview teenager Marko Niketic, killed last weekend in a car crash, police said the second driver in the incident continues receiving medical treatment. In a statement given to Patch Thursday, police said they are in contact with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office to review possible charges.

"We're moving as fast as is possible without compromising the investigation," the statement reads.

Glenview police said interviews are being conducted with all parties and witnesses involved in the accident.

Niketic, 17, a senior at Glenbrook South, was killed Sunday night when his car was struck by another vehicle heading westbound in the 1200 block of East Lake Avenue near Meadow Lane.

Police are looking for assistance in their investigation from any witnesses to the traffic crash that occurred at 11:08 p.m., or from anyone that was on scene immediately after the accident. Police can be reached at the Glenview Police Tip Line at 847-901-6055.

"As is standard for this kind of investigation, we are collecting and analyzing all evidence to help determine the cause of the accident and support any possible charges, should this case warrant them," police said.

Services for Niketic are being handled by Muzyka & Son Funeral Home, out of Chicago. According to an obituary posted on their website, a visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 32377 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. An Opelo (funeral service) will follow at 11 am. Interment will be at Saint Sava Monastery Cemetery in Libertyville.

Memorial services for Niketic were held both Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the scene of the crash. Police had closed the street to traffic during the tributes.
