Glenview's Character Counts! Announces Art, Video Contest Winners
Nine local students will be honored at an upcoming Glenview Village Board meeting.
GLENVIEW, IL — The results are in and nine standout students are being recognized as winners in the Character Counts! Art & Video Contest. This year's theme was "superheroes," and entrants created Character Counts! superheroes that display one of the pillars of character, including trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
The students will be honored at the Feb. 6 meeting of the Glenview Village Board.
The art contest was open to kindergartners through fourth grade and entries were judged by a team from the Glenview Public Library. Students in grades 5-8 were eligible for the video contest, and entries were judged by a team from the Glenview Village Hall.

Organizers said contest winners earned a monetary prize generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Glenview-Northbrook. Artwork might also be featured on Glenview Rotary Sunrise Hero Hustle T-shirts next fall.

- 3rd Place - Eleanor Vinson (2nd Grade, Lyon School)

- 1st Place - Sophia Velez (3rd Grade, Willowbrook School)
- 2nd Place - Esra Mathew (3rd Grade, Wescott School)

Video Contest Winners: 5th through 8th Grade
- 1st Place - Arya Akash (5th Grade, Willowbrook School)
- 2nd Place - Emerson Theobald (5th Grade, Willowbrook School)
- 3rd Place - Eli Matthew (6th Grade, Maple School)
"We are so proud of the students who demonstrated their creativity and talent in order to remind us of the six pillars of character and our power to do good in our community," said Scott Carlson, Character Counts! In Glenview co-chair and Willowbrook School Principal. "Since 1996, the principles of Character Counts! have been embedded in our schools and throughout our community to guide us in being good citizens and neighbors."
Character Counts! in Glenview comprises 15 caring committee members from the community, including parents, students and dedicated representatives from local organizations and schools.
