UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF CANNABIS BY DRIVER

Suraj Mesquita, 20, of the 7100 block of Church Street, Morton Grove, is accused of unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding 15 to 20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 7:34 p.m. Nov. 29, after a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Sanders Road. They were released and assigned a court date of Dec. 14.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A Plymouth Place resident reported at 7:52 a.m. Nov. 26, being in their vehicle in the parking lot of Richardson Park, 1950 Westleigh Drive, when someone blocked the vehicle and struck the hood, causing a dent. They did not know the subject. The person appeared confused but refused assistance. They were issued a Village ordinance citation for damage and released from the scene.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
- A resident in the 2700 block of Langley Circle reported at 8:38 p.m. Nov. 26, their garage door was not functioning, and an exterior door that they leave unlocked, had been locked. They said items were strewn around the house when they arrived home. The upstairs bedroom window and screen had been removed. The main circuit breaker to the home had been turned off. They left for work at 9:30 a.m. and had been gone all day. The Ring video abruptly shuts off at 5:40 p.m. hours. A ring valued at $10,000 was missing.
- A resident of the 2600 block of Independence Avenue reported on Dec. 1 that they had been on vacation since Nov. 15. Upon return home, they discovered the upstairs bedrooms of the home ransacked. The closet safe was broken into and all the jewelry had been taken. The first-floor bedroom had the screen removed and the lock broken. They had several packages left on the porch that had been delivered while they were gone.
IDENTITY THEFT
- A Fielding Drive resident called police at 5:23 p.m. Nov. 26, to report someone had opened a Costco credit account in their name and purchased an Apple iPad Pro ($1,995.23) with a shipping destination in Florida. They responded to Costco to verify the fraudulent account, had it closed, verified no monetary loss existed for them and determined no complaints were necessary.
- A Glenview resident reported at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 30, someone had opened a Verizon Wireless account in their name and purchased an Apple iPhone 16Pro Max without authorization. Estimated loss is $1,146.
- A Henley Street resident reported at 2:45 p.m. Dec. 2, receiving a summons from a county in Tennessee for a fraudulent check. They discovered someone had used their personal information to open a bank account where a check from the United States Treasury was deposited in their name for $20,705.74. No financial loss.
STOLEN VEHICLE
A Lockport resident reported at 2:25 p.m. Nov. 27, that a Penske rental truck was rented from a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard on a one-day agreement and never returned. Records show the renter is a Chicago resident. Penske records show numerous fueling attempts at their locations by this truck in several other states. Home Depot surveillance footage shows two unknown males renting the vehicle.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A resident of the 900 block of Buccaneer Drive called police at 1 a.m. Nov. 28, to report the back door to the residence was open upon their arrival home, which they said had been locked. They said there were blankets from the dryer that were moved to the floor and the dog was sitting on the kitchen table, which is unusual. They did not find anything missing.
THEFT
- A Gloria Court resident called police at 5:10 a.m. Nov. 28, to report leaving their locked electric bicycle behind a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road at during the overnight hours and when they returned, the bicycle was gone. They described the bike as Hai brand, in neon yellow and black.
- A Saipan Drive resident reported leaving their car parked overnight on Nov. 26 in a parking lot in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive. When they returned to the car, they noticed the rear license plate missing. Flock cameras show the license plate attached to a black Mazda 3, which is not their vehicle.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Hunter Road reported at 12:09 p.m. Nov. 29, that six days earlier, they had hired an Uber to transport six boxes from their home to an address in Elgin. The Uber app indicated the vehicle they hired arrived. They loaded the boxes into the Uber and then received a notification that the ride had ended in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. They attempted to contact the driver but were unsuccessful. The boxes contained medical devices valued at approximately $50,000.
- A resident of the 1000 block of Linden Lane called police at 1:28 p.m. Nov. 30, to report someone had opened the brown envelope package they were delivering for Amazon to their residence. The person removed Apple AirPods and then threw the empty package onto the driveway. The homeowner reported the incident to Amazon.
- A Sunflower Court resident reported at4:09 p.m. Nov. 30, a package containing two rings was delivered to their mailbox at 2:08 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., they discovered the package was opened, and the rings were missing. Total loss is $262.
TRESPASSING
A resident in the 1800 block of Wildberry Drive called police at 2:06 p.m. Nov. 30, to report being battered by a neighbor at their residence. The complainant explained they were going to visit a
friend when they accidentally walked into the wrong home, which is owned by someone they had
confrontations within the past. They said they apologized but the homeowner immediately
battered them, and they fled the scene. The homeowner said they have had past confrontations
with the complainant and when they saw him in the home, they pushed them out.
UNWANTED PERSON
Employees of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 7:21 p.m. Dec. 1, an unknown male had been using the weight-lifting equipment in the store. They asked him to stop, and he complied, but walked around the store using profanities. They asked him to leave, and he would not comply until they said they were calling the police, then he left. They described him as Hispanic, 25 to 30 years of age, slender build, 5-foot-10, black hair, brown eyes, wearing a black puffy coat, black Carhart hat, and light blue pants.
BATTERY
Two people reported at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 2, playing a pickup basketball game at a
business in the 3800 block of Willow Road. They were being aggressive to each other. One
said the other person became upset and punched them in the head with a closed fist. The
other person reported that they approached them but did not strike them. Multiple witnesses
reported there were no punches thrown. Parties separated.
