Dog Notices Car Burglary Suspect, 2 Crashes Result In DUI Arrests: Glenview Crime Reports

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

CAR BURGLARY

On Sept. 19, a resident of the 1100 block of Golfview Road reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle in the driveway and stole a garage door opener sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept. 18 and noon on Sept. 19. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

On the afternoon of Sept. 19, a resident in the 1100 block of Raleigh Road reported his vehicle had been burglarized during the previous night overnight while parked unlocked in the driveway. He told police his wallet was taken out of the vehicle and he had gotten a notification from Chase Bank that a transaction had been attempted and denied in Stony Island. The resident told police that around 5 a.m. that morning, his dog had begun to bark. When he looked out the window he saw a silver minivan parked in front of his house and a man standing in his driveway. The homeowner said he yelled at the male asking what he was doing and the male, in a heavy accent, asked the homeowner if he called a cab. The homeowner told him he did not and the man left in the minivan.

THEFT

On Sept. 19 at 8:17 p.m., a bicycle was stolen while in the 3300 block of Glenview Road for a reported loss of $530.

IDENTITY THEFT

On Sept. 20 at 4:34 p.m., a resident in the 2000 block of Larkdale Road reported having received a phone call from a bank asking for more information about an online credit application she had purportedly filled out. The resident said she had not filled out an application, and the address listed on the application was out of Chicago. After checking her credit, she saw two prior credit lines were attempted to be opened. The other two were also denied. There was no reported loss.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

On Sept. 21, an officer on patrol noticed graffitti in the stairwell of the parking garage in the 2700 block of Aviator Lane. Someone had used red spray paint to write the “S & N” at an unknown time. The estimated repair cost was $100.

CAR BURGLARY

On the evening of Sept. 21, a resident in the 1700 block of Greenwood Road reported that someone had entered an unlocked van that was parked outside the residence and stole their backpack containing an Apple iPad, leather purse and a wallet, along with their contents. The incident is thought to have occurred between 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 21. The estimated loss was $750.

THEFT

On Sept. 21 at 7:20 p.m., an employee at a business in the 0-100 block of Waukegan Road reported their their Samsung Galaxy cell phone was stolen while at work for a reported loss of $750.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On Sept. 23 between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., someone shattered the rear window of a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Kittyhawk Lane for a reported loss of $100.00.

THEFT

On Sept. 24 at 5:43 p.m., a theft of a bicycle was reported in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue. The owner of the bike told police he had put it in front of a store at 3 p.m. and when he came back out at 5 p.m. it was gone. The incident may have been captured on tape, and the reported loss was $500.

IDENTITY THEFT

On Sept. 25 at 2:17 p.m., a resident in the 3800 block of Rugen Road reported someone opened up a ComEd account using her identity and an address in Chicago back in February. The resident began to receive past due notices and ComEd closed the account, there was no reported loss.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

HIT-AND-RUN

Joseph Ocrant, 70, of the 600 block of Alsace Circle, Buffalo Grove, was arrested at the Glenview Police Department on Sept. 20 at 11:15 a.m. and charged with failing to give information after striking an unattended vehicle as the result of an investigation into a crash that occurred in the 4000 block of West Lake Avenue on Sept. 12.

DUI

Shannon Garden, 21, of the 800 block of Clover Court, was arrested on Sept. 21 at 2:12 a.m. and charged with driving under influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, and issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, and driving in the wrong lane after being involved in a single vehicle traffic crash in the 2400 block of East Lake Avenue.

THEFT

Kailee Keenan, 19, of the 3600 block of Keenan Lane, was arrested on Sept. 22 at 10:03 a.m. and charged with theft after she admitted to transferring more than $8,000 from someone else’s bank account into her own account.

DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

An 18-year-old Glenview man was issued a local ordinance citation for possesion of drug paraphernalia on Sept. 22 at 6:57 p.m. after he was walking between buildings in the 4100 block of Cove Lane by a citizen.

CANNABIS

An 18-year-old Glenview man was issued a local ordinance citation shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 after police noticed an unoccupied car parked in a "No Parking" zone in the 1600 block of Executive Lane with a small, clear plastic bag of suspected cannabis in plain view on the center console of the front seat. When the vehicle's occupants returned, the passenger admitted the cannabis was his and was issued the citation.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

A 45-year-old Wheeling man was arrested in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue on Sept. 23 at 12:06 a.m. and charged with driving while license suspended and issued a citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

UNLICENSED DRIVER

A 43-year-old Aurora woman was arrested on Sept. 24 at 2:33 a.m. after a traffic stop at the intersection of Willow and Shermer roads and charged with driving without a valid driver's license. She was also cited for improper use of turn signal.

RETAIL THEFT

Tamieca McDade, 40, of the 500 block of Buffalo Avenue in Calumet City, was arrested on Sept. 24 at 3:50 p.m. in the 1900 block of Tower Drive and charged with retail theft. Police did not disclose what she was accused of stealing or from where she is accused of having stolen it.

DUI

Jason Ford, 32, of the 7600 block of Lincoln Avenue, Skokie, was arrested on Sept. 24 at 10:42 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under influence of alcohol with a BAC Over .08 after being involved in a traffic crash in the 1800 block of Prairie Street.
