GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
Someone stole property worth $1,360 from a home in the 4700 block of West Lake Avenue, police were told on the afternoon of Dec. 31.

BATTERY
A resident in the 1500 block of Lehigh Avenue reported on Dec. 31 they did not wish to press charges for battery after being punched in the face by a neighbor after letting the neighbor into their home on Dec. 27.

STOLEN CAR FOUND
Police found a car that had been reported stolen from Des Plaines parked behind a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. on Jan. 5.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Someone broke into an unspecified business in the 200 block of Waukegan Road by breaking the front glass entrance prior to 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 5. Burglars stole $79 in cash and an unknown amount of store merchandise, causing an estimated $5,300 in damage to the business.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
A Skokie resident reported a road rage incident around 9 a.m. on Jan. 5. The driver was headed south on Landwehr Road near Hospital Drive when another motorist picked up an extended folding knife from his lap and pointed it at the resident. The motorist fled after the Skokie resident told him the police were being called.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A resident in the 1300 block of Elizabeth Lane reported around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 that an unidentified person had made several unauthorized withdrawals from their bank account for a total loss of $1,780.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Security footage from the 3600 block of Ari Lane shows an unidentified man trying to break into a parked car before throwing something at the car window around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 6. The footage shows the suspect run away from the area. The cost of the damage was about $400.

STOLEN VEHICLE
Someone stole a car worth about $20,000 between 8 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 6 that had been parked on driveway in the 3400 block of Keenan Lane.

HOME BURGLARY
Someone got into a garage in the 2400 block of Saranac Lane between 10 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 6 after breaking the driver's side window of a parked and taking the remote door opener from the sun visor inside. The burglar was able to open the garage door and rummage through another car, but the only item reported missing was a garage door opener valued at $110.

TRESPASSING
Someone entered a vacant home in the 100 block of Princeton Lane around 1 p.m. on Jan. 5, the home's owner told police the following day.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An employee of an unspecified business in the 1300 block of Waukegan Road reported around 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 6 that a customer was yelling and screaming on the phone about getting calls from a collection agency due to not paying for services. Officers contacted the customer and told them not to contact the business.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A resident in the 500 block of Echo Lane reported around 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 6 that they had a dispute with a neighbor regarding the walking and control of their dog.

VANDALISM
Offensive graffiti written on a yellow parking barrier was discovered in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, causing an estimated $200 in damage.

FORGERIES

  • The manager of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road discovered $280 in counterfeit cash in a register on Dec. 10, staff reported on Dec. 31.
  • A Concord Lane resident reported around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 that someone had altered a check for $2,846.32.

RETAIL THEFTS

  • Security staff of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 that two unidentified people concealed and tried to steal about $500 worth of merchandise. The stopped the items and fled.
  • The manager of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported an unidentified woman entered the store around 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 6, took several items off the racks and walked out without paying for them, fleeing with an estimated $200 worth of merchandise in an unknown sedan.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Lotus Lane resident reported on Dec. 31 that someone had used their identity to open two credit cards and accrue $6,700 in charges.
  • A Buffalo Grove resident reported on Dec. 31 that someone had stolen their driver's license, cash and a debit card from a coat pocket while waiting in line at an unspecified business in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The resident deactivated the stolen card after their bank notified them of the unauthorized purchase.
  • A Grove Street resident reported on Dec. 31 that someone had transferred money out of their bank account and made fraudulent purchases on another account for a total loss of $9,200.
  • An Echo Lane resident reported on Jan. 2 that a credit company contacted them to inform them of an online credit inquiry for an application for $4,000. The resident contacted the company and let them know the transaction was fraudulent.

THEFTS

  • A resident in the 900 block of Meadowlark Lane reported around 4 p.m. on Jan. 5 that someone had stolen four pairs of shoes for a total loss of about $1,000.
  • A Winnetka resident reported around 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 6 that someone stole a check for about $83 that they had been supposed to get in the mail. The check was shown as sent on Dec. 13 and later deposited in an unidentified bank account.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • Someone burglarized an unlocked car parked in the 1300 block of Pendleton Lane between 6 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 9 a.m. on Jan. 6. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.
  • A car burglar rummaged through a car left unlocked in a driveway in the 3800 block of Knight Street between 4 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 9 a.m. on Jan. 6. Nothing was reported missing.
  • A resident in the 2400 block of Halina Drive reported that someone stole a bag with various hair products, a cushion and a garage door opener from inside a car left unlocked while parked in a driveway between 10 a.m. on Jan. 5 and 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 6.
  • Home surveillance video showed an unidentified car pull up to a home in the 2400 block of Saranac Court around 3 a.m. on Jan. 6. Two people got out and entered the resident's unlocked car. The burglars rummaged through the car, stole $400 worth of unspecified items and fled the scene.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 38-year-old Chicago woman was issued a citation under the village ordinance prohibiting retail theft around 2 p.m. on Jan. 2 after she stole a purse worth nearly $300 from an unspecified business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.

A 75-year-old Glenview man was issued a citation under the village's disorderly conduct ordinance around 3 p.m. on Jan. 4 after he made hand gestures to a resident who reported being disturbed or alarmed in the 2000 block of Lehigh Avenue.

A 19-year-old Chicago man was issued a citation under the village ordinance prohibiting possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia following an investigation into a report of a suspicious car in the first block of Park Lane prior to 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 4.

Eid J. Ishaq, 36, of the 3600 block of Glenview Road, Glenview, was arrested around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 5 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 1400 block of Glenview Road. It was not immediately clear where he was arrested, but police also issued him failure to result speed and improper lane usage citations in connection with the crash.

A 47-year-old Northbrook woman was issued a retail theft citation around 4:15 p.m. on Jan. 5 after she stole $90 worth of clothing from an unspecified business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.
