'Ex-Military Sniper' Threatens To Kill Resident: Glenview PD Blotter

The caller reportedly told the resident on the phone that they had been paid $5,000 to "terminate" them.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Miroslav Stoyanov, 40, of the 700 block of Coventry Place, Wheeling, had a warrant out of Cook County for failure to appear, and was arrested at 9:24 p.m. Aug. 21, in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road. He was being held in custody at the time of the report for a court hearing.

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Nataliia Hlushak, 23, of the 1100 block of N. Sterling Avenue, Palatine, is accused of driving while license suspended, possessing a suspended driver's license, no insurance, one tail light, and was arrested at 1:24 a.m. Aug. 23, following a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
  • Jiminez Reyes, 41, of the 4300 block of N. St. Louis Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving with a suspended driver's license, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 12:33 a.m. Aug. 20, following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of East Lake Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Sept. 27.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

Jose Hernandez-Jurado, 19, of the 4700 block of Springfield Avenue, Chicago, is accused of having no valid driver's license, speeding, no seat belt, and was arrested at 6:44 p.m. Aug. 16, in the 800 block of East Lake Avenue.

INCIDENTS

INTOXICATED PERSON

A resident was seen stumbling on Landwehr Road at 6:18 p.m. Aug. 20, walking northbound and falling several times. They refused transport by Glenview Fire and were taken to their residence.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 0 block of Parkview Road observed a Hispanic male in his 50s, around 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, wearing a green baseball hat come up to the front porch and pick up a package that had been delivered earlier in the day. The man entered a blue Jeep Compass, which left southbound from the scene. Estimated loss is $130.
  • A Northfield resident reported at a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road between noon and 2 p.m. Aug. 22. They had their purse unzipped on the child seat while they shopped, often stepping away from the cart. When they went to pay, they noticed their wallet missing. They received notifications that there were attempts on their credit card in Northbrook and Northfield. The wallet contained $140 in cash a passport, a driver’s license, and multiple credit cards.
  • A citizen called police at 6:34 p.m. Aug. 23, to report someone had entered a storage unit at a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue and removed an AC/DC shirt. They advised the unit was locked at the time of the theft and the lock was still intact.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • Village of Glenview employees reported at 1:52 p.m. Aug. 21, that they had received a phone call from a resident of the 700 block of Surrey Lane, in which they were upset about a power outage on Aug. 20. The person was also upset about stores being empty in Glenview, traffic on Glenview Road, the parking situation on Surrey Lane, and Trump. They told the Village employees they are "fat Republicans who needed to be lined up against the wall and shot." Officers spoke with them advising them not to convey threats and to not call the Village unless they have an emergency or legitimate complaint.
  • An employee for a business in the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue reported at 11:26 a.m. Aug. 26, receiving three phone calls from a male who was talking about his genitalia and things he would like to do with it.

TRESPASSING

  • A resident in the 2000 block of Franklin Drive called police at 4:14 p.m. Aug. 21, to report their neighbor's landscaping company was seen on camera working on branches from their neighbor’s tree, that hung into their backyard. Officers spoke with the neighbor who said the bush could only be accessed through the neighbor’s yard but they will tell the landscapers not to enter without permission next time.
  • Employees for a business in the 2300 block of Willow Road called police at 8 p.m. Aug. 21, to report a repeat trespasser remained on the property after being told by security to leave. The man is described as white in his 60s, white shoulder-length hair, medium build, about 5-foot-10, stubble styled beard riding a dark-colored mountain bike wearing a green shirt and tan or white shorts. Officers were unable to locate the man, but they requested a formal trespass warning be given if he returns.

BOMB THREAT

Employees for a business in the 2100 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 8:23 p.m. Aug. 21, they had received a bomb threat via email that said, "In the name of Palestine, I've stuffed a nail bomb down the toilets in your museum bathroom. Allahu akbar!" Officers did a walk through of the business and did not locate anything suspicious.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • A Gurnee resident reported that while driving westbound on Willow Road from Pfingsten Road at 7:45 p.m. Aug. 21, a motorcycle behind them became impatient and sped past their vehicle, striking the driver’s side mirror with their fist, causing it to break off the vehicle. The motorcycle left the area, northbound I-294.
  • A Saipan Drive resident called police at 5:44 p.m. Aug. 22, to report two men had approached them in the parking lot of a business in the 2100 block of Willow Road saying they would repair a dent on their vehicle for $200, which they agreed to. When they returned to the vehicle, there was green film in different areas and the men said it could be taken off tomorrow. The men now requested $1,200. They refused, but paid $150 in cash and $700 via Apple Pay to one of the men’s phone numbers. Officers called the number and spoke with a male, who said he is from Florida and he is here for work. He did not identify the other party.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Employees for a business in the 1900 block of Waukegan Road called police at 9:59 a.m. Aug. 22, to report a customer took several price tags off items, used them for class, then left without paying. Officers spoke with the person, an Evanston resident, who admitted to stealing the items and paid restitution. They were given a trespass warning not to return.
  • Officers responded to a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue for a retail theft report from Aug. 18. Two people had come to the store to make restitution for a retail theft they had committed on Aug. 18. Restitution was made and both were trespassed from the store.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

A Westleigh Drive resident reported at 3:54 p.m. Aug. 22, receiving a text message saying, "I'm a ex-military sniper. I want you to read this message very carefully and keep the secret with you till further notice you have no need of knowing who I am where am from I have been paid $5,000 to terminate you I was given your address and I have followed you closely in the past few days. You have to keep this confidential between us I have seen you are innocent or not guilty of the accusations." They do not know who the message is from or why they received it.

ATTEMPTED CAR BURGLARY

A resident of the 900 block of Rolling Pass called police at 8:17 a.m. Aug. 24, to report someone had attempted to open their vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The vehicle was locked and the person traveled south on a bicycle. Ring video showed an offender wearing a hooded sweatshirt pulled over his face.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A resident in the 1300 block of Somerset Drive called police at 4:23 p.m. Aug. 24, to report a male was driving a white Lexus parked their vehicle in front of their house and walked over to their lawn. The male laid down on the grass while holding an envelope on his head. The male told them that he was not feeling well then ran to his vehicle and left the area but dropped the envelope.

TRESPASS WARNING

An employee of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 8:59 p.m. Aug. 24, a Chicago resident was bothering employees and kept asking them for cigarettes. Employees asked officers if they can trespass the person. The person was asked to leave the store since they were not making any purchases. They were given a trespass warning and left.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

Police responded to a business in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 3:07 a.m. Aug. 27, for a business alarm. Upon arrival, officers found the front window broken and two vehicles backed into parking spaces in front of the business. Those involved were on scene and yelled when they saw officers, all entering the vehicles and fleeing northbound Milwaukee. They were unable to make contact with the business owner. The losses were unknown at the time.

BATTERY

Employees of a business in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 12:43 p.m. Aug. 26, to report two people were having a fight inside the restaurant. They were both intoxicated and admitted they are friends but were arguing, during which a glass was broken. No witnesses to the altercation, no injuries, no complaints.
