GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Mike Denikov, 58, of the 9000 block of Cumberland Avenue, Niles, had two warrants out-of-state warrants for fugitive from justice, and was arrested at 5:16 p.m. Feb. 6, following a traffic stop in the 9600 block of Milwaukee Avenue for failure to wear a seat belt. Denikov was unable to post bond for the warrants, and he was held at the Glenview Police Department pending transport to a Cook County Facility for extradition.

THEFT

Alfredo Rivera, 50, of the 2200 block of Nordica, Elmwood Park, is accused of theft over $500, had a warrant for theft, and was arrested at 9:55 a.m. Feb. 4, at the Bridgeview Courthouse. The theft warrant followed an investigation into an incident that occurred on Waukegan Road in 2021. He was released and assigned a court date of Feb. 4.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

A Mount Prospect resident reported at 10:51 a.m. Feb. 4, someone had forced open the door to a condo they own in the 1000 block of Castilian Courtt. They suspect a family member, who is the previous tenant, and was evicted by the Cook County Sheriff on Feb. 4. Nothing appeared to be missing and there is no additional damage to the door.

BATTERY

A citizen called police at 2:49 p.m. Feb. 5, to report a battery. They said they were renting a storage unit and office space in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They said they had a cordial relationship with an employee for the building. On Aug. 27, 2024, the employee had reportedly entered the storage unit and put their hand on their back and grabbed their butt. They told the employee no and the employee left the unit, but has harassed them since the incident so they would not file a police report. The employee said the person has not paid for their spaces and refuses to pick up their mail. The employee believes the person made the accusations so they would not be evicted from the office. The district manager said the person made a similar previous complaint five years ago and had sued the business.

FORGERY

Employees for a business in the 500 block of Waukegan Road reported at 6:28 p.m. Feb. 6, a customer used two counterfeit $50 bills to make a purchase. The first bill was accepted, but the second bill was not. Officers took custody of the bill and sent it to the Secret Service. The person is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot8 to 5-foot-9, 150 to 180 pounds, wearing black jeans, a black jacket, and a red baseball hat with the letter "C." He left prior to police arrival.

THEFT

  • A Lotus Lane resident reported on Feb. 8 that on the previous day, someone had withdrawn $1,000 from their Chase savings account on Feb. 7 using an ATM in Chicago. Later in the evening, there were 38 transactions at a Chase ATM, located in Glenview, where $7,600 from the account was taken. The resident said they had possession of all their debit cards and had frozen their account with Chase.
  • A resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive called police on Feb. 9 to report a former roommate took two guitars from the residence sometime between September 2024 and last week. One guitar was located as pawned by the roommate on Oct. 21, 2024, at a pawn shop in Prospect Heights.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 200 block of Greenfield Drive reported that between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8, someone had pried open their kitchen door and made entry to their home. The suspect went through their belongings and stole approximately $8,200 worth of property including jewelry, designer handbags, and U.S. currency.
  • A resident in the 300 block of Greenfield Drive reported at 5:57 p.m. Feb. 9, a male — described as being Hispanic, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot8, 140 to 160 pounds — knocked on the door at 5 p.m. wearing a yellow reflective vest. He entered the home and spoke about construction on the fence, while also talking to someone on a walkie-talkie. They went to the backyard and the front door was left unlocked. After returning inside, the resident noticed the bedrooms ransacked and interior doors damaged. It did not appear anything had been taken. A neighbor had witnessed a black Nissan Rouge with a red license plate cover parked. The person with a reflective vest had been seen approaching the residence and going inside with the homeowner. Two additional subjects exited the back of the vehicle and ran to the residence. There was a driver waiting in the vehicle.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

A 12th Street resident reported at 12:05 a.m. Feb. 9, going on a date with a Chicago resident, and since then, they have been harassing them over the phone. They explained they went on one date and decided not to go on any others, but the date continues to call them from their cell phone, Google Meet, and various private numbers. The date said they have not attempted to contact the resident, and the resident has been the one attempting to make contact since their one date. Both parties were advised to no contact each other.

TRESPASS WARNING

  • An employee for a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 10:16 a.m. Feb. 9, to report a customer was upset after not liking their hair cut and caused a disturbance in the salon. The customer said they became emotional and overreacted. The salon did not want the person to return and they were given a trespass warning.
  • An employee for a business in the 2000 block of Johns Court called police at 11:19 a.m. Feb. 10, to report an ex-employee was on the premise and they wanted them to leave to avoid conflict about a previous paycheck. The ex-employee was gone prior to police arrival. Extra watch requested.

UNWANTED PERSON

A citizen called police at 2:52 p.m. Feb. 10, to report staying at a business in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Ave along with a homeless person they hired for contracting work. They said the homeless person was constantly intoxicated and they did not want them to stay in the room anymore. Officers drove the homeless person to Journeys in Palatine.
