Officers located a loaded handgun in the grass while talking to the two about the fight, but all parties denied possession of it.

Otto Blanco, 36, of the 6300 block of W. Raven Street, Chicago, is accused of speeding (26-34 mph over the limit), improper lane usage, and was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Sept. 5, at Sanders and Willow roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Oct. 3.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Avila Muro, 35, of the 100 block of North Branch, is accused of driving on a suspended driver's license, no insurance, expired registration, and was arrested at 8:10 p.m. Sept. 5, in the 3600 block of West Lake Avenue. She was released and assigned a court date of Oct. 15.

INCIDENTS

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

A Hoffman Estates resident reported at 4:27 p.m. Sept. 3, the lock missing from their storage unit at a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue, and their personal property scattered inside. They reported their toolbox missing from the unit, valued at $400, with various tools that were inside, valued at $800. Employees noticed the lock missing on Aug. 31.

TRESPASSING

A male was seen at 4:39 p.m. Sept. 3, near the bathrooms of Community Park West, 1001 Zenith Drive, after having been previously given a trespass warning. He was issued a Village ordinance citation for trespassing and left without further incident.

BATTERY

  • A Skokie resident reported at 5:40 a.m. Sept. 4, a friend had pulled their hair, so they threw a drink at them to get her away while they were staying at a business in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue. While speaking with the two outside, officers located a loaded handgun in the grass, but all parties denied possession of it. The gun was put into property custody. No one was injured, and staff asked the two to leave.
  • Police responded to a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 11:19 p.m. Sept. 7, for a battery between an employee and guest. Officers spoke to an employee about the incident. The employee stated a male and female guest came to the business and while waiting, the female became irate and threatened to batter the employee. The female then picked up an object as if to throw it. The employee said, in self-defense, they picked up an object and threw it at the female. Both the employee and the female threw several objects at each other before both parties called the police.
  • A resident of the 1500 block of Plymouth Place reported at 7:49 p.m. Sept. 8, their neighbor had thrown a cigarette at them during an argument about a dog urinating on the bushes. The neighbor denied throwing a cigarette and said they are frustrated that they let the dog go on theproperty. They agreed to try to stay away from each other.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A resident of the 1100 block of Castilian Court called police at 11:03 a.m. Sept. 5, to report the sunroof on their car was shattered. They did not find anything missing from the vehicle. Estimated damage is $1,000.

RETAIL THEFT

  • While investigating another retail theft at 1:37 p.m. Sept. 5, police found $1,245.49 worth of Magic trading cards that were taken from a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road in the duffle bags of two Chicago residents. They were issued Village ordinance citations for theft and given a trespass warning not to return to the business.
  • Employees of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road notified police at 12:39 p.m. Sept. 5, two people left the store carrying duffle bags and the security sensors went off. They were seen running through the parking lot and were located by officers in the 2100 block of Willow Road. The duo had bags that contained $373.58 worth of stolen merchandise. They were issued a Village ordinance citation for theft and given a trespass warning not to return.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident of the 1100 block of Castilian Court called police at 6:26 p.m. Sept. 5, to report their car was missing from the lot of the residence. The Flock Safety Camera system showed the vehicle matching the description at Milwaukee Avenue and Golf Road at 12:23 a.m. Sept. 5. The vehicle was entered into LEADS.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Police responded to the 4300 block of Regency Drive at 12:23 a.m. Sept. 6, for a report of a broken window on a van parked in the lot. The owner of the van reported nothing missing. CCSPD had reports of a suspicious person in the area described as a male wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, and black gloves, but they were unable to locate him.
  • A resident of the 4100 block of Cove Lane reported at 12:14 a.m. Sept. 8, a puncture in their car tire while parked in the residence lot. They suspect their neighbor, whom they have had several disputes with.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 1700 block of Grove Street reported at 8:57 a.m. Sept. 6, seeing what they believed to be drug activity from a neighbor. The resident explained since a new neighbor has moved in, the resident has observed on the property a "bent spoon," an unknown woman smoking a "crack pipe," a woman who appeared to be on drugs, and visitors going in and out of the residence. The resident is concerned for the safety of other neighbors. The resident was advised to call the police when they observe suspicious behavior or anyone who may need medical assistance.

THEFT OF LOST OR MISLAID PROPERTY

A resident of the 4400 block of Seminole Drive reported at 8:36 p.m. Sept. 6, that earlier in the day, they were shopping at a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road. The resident said they paid for their items and returned home. After arriving home, the resident could not locate their wallet and believes they left it at the store. They were advised to notify their bank and credit card companies.

UNWANTED PERSON

A resident in the 1700 block of Grove Street called police at 7:14 p.m. Sept. 7, to report an unknown female was in the common laundry room of the building. The complainant advised there has been an ongoing issue within the complex of people coming and going from a rented unit. Officers located the female, who would only say she is staying with a friend in the building. The female, who had the access code to the building, said she had to go to the store but will return later for her laundry when her unnamed friend returns.

THEFT

  • A Wilmette resident reported at 3:32 p.m. Sept. 8, someone had taken their wallet out of their wallet out of their purse while they shopped at a business in the 0 block of Waukegan Road. The wallet contained three credit cards, a driver's license, and $20 in cash.
  • A resident of the 3200 block of Brookdale Lane called police at 8:22 a.m. Sept. 9, to report they had parked their electric bicycle on the driveway, unlocked, in front of the garage at 1:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. they returned to the driveway and saw the bicycle missing. Estimated value is $1,272.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An employee of a business in the 2600 block of Navy Boulevard reported at 10:37 a.m. Sept. 9, someone was yelling obscenities at one of their employees. The employee returned to the front of the store and saw feces on the window, front door, and handle, in addition to a dead bird by the door.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Dewes Street resident reported at 2:21 p.m. Sept. 9, receiving an invoice for $1,279 from AT&T for a phone line that was activated on 06/09/2024. They did not activate any lines and do not recognize the phone number.
