Laughing Academy Brings Chicago Comedy To Glenview
Skip the exhausting, expensive trip to the city and catch live stand-up comedy at The Laughing Academy in Glenview this Friday.

Chicago is a great city for live comedy.
Unless the last thing you want to do is schlep down to the city and experience everything that goes along with it. Think gassing up the car; paying for parking; suffering whatever abuse your doors and bumpers experience from city parking. Oh, and since you’re going down to the city, may as well make an evening of it with dinner before the show and/or drinks afterward. Of course, you can’t plan a night downtown and not call [insert old friends; roommates; cousins; clients; former dogwalkers].
Your simple plan of catching a live stand-up comedy show at a Chicago club inevitably turns into an expensive, inconvenient and exhausting night.

Sometimes, that’s an adventure worth jumping into. But that’s not why you moved out to the suburbs now, is it?
Since its grand opening in 2019, Glenview’s The Laughing Academy has been committed to
presenting live improv and stand-up comedy shows, featuring the same hilarious and irreverent performers that appear regularly at your favorite Chicago comedy clubs.

During the pandemic, The Laughing Academy continued to sellout live shows, outdoors so audience and performers could safely enjoy themselves. This spring, the comedy shows returned to The Laughing Academy’s intimate black box theater located in the back of their brick-and-mortar improv training center at 3230 Glenview Road. It is the coolest hidden gem in the north suburbs.
While owner Kim Hiller and The Laughing Academy has devoted over a decade to training children in the art of improv and other skills, the stand-up comedy shows are for the adults. Tickets are reasonably priced at $25 per person and the shows are BYOB. So along with free parking, there is no minimum drink order. Seating is limited to allow for pandemic-era distancing.
Proof of concept is evident once again, at 8pm this Friday, November 5th, with the November edition of their monthly Funnier By The Lake stand-up comedy showcase. The lineup includes Zanies headliner, Anthony Bonazzo, as well as Chicago comics Laura Hugg and Joe Antonacci.
