Local Actress "Ecstatic" about "Sound of Music" Role
Glenview's own Katherine Damisch debuts as "Maria" with Summer Place Theatre in Naperville.

When the curtain goes up on July 15, the chanting nuns of Nonnberg Abbey will be interrupted by Katherine Damisch as the irrepressible Maria whose story is told in "The Sound of Music." Already quite active elsewhere in the theatre community, Glenview resident Damisch is making her first appearance at The Summer Place, Naperville's community theatre since 1966.
Matt Whalen stars opposite as Captain von Trapp and they are joined by seven young local actors who play the von Trapp children. Veteran singers and actors round out the rest of the cast and all are supported by a 26 piece orchestra.
Performances of "The Sound of Music" are for three weekends in July. Friday and Saturday shows, July 15-16, 22-23, and 29-30, begin at 7:30pm. Matinee performances are available on Sundays at 3:00p, July 17, 24, and 31.
