Donfred Adolphe, 27, of Hollywood, Florida, is accused of identity theft, possession of a fictitious identification card, and was arrested at 11:06 a.m. Nov. 8, in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 11.

UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON

Israel Gonzalez, 32, is accused of unlawful use of a weapon, leaving the scene of a crash, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Nov. 10, after a crash investigation at the intersection of Waukegan Road and Dewes Street. He was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 9.

AGGRAVATED USE OF A COMMUNICATION DEVICE

Mujtaba H. Syed, 29, if accused of aggravated use of electronic communication/bodily harm, and was arrested at 12:05 a.m. Nov. 9, after a crash investigation in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 9.

INCIDENTS

FORGERY

A Lincoln Street resident reported on Nov. 5 that a relative was the victim of check fraud. They wrote a check in the amount of $50, but the check was lost. It was later learned the check was deposited into an unknown person's bank account in the amount of $250. An internal investigation was launched by the bank.

THEFT

  • The owner of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road called police at 7:48 a.m. Nov. 6, to report an employee fell victim to a scam via telephone. An unknown person pretended to be from “corporate” and convinced the employee to empty the register tills and deposit $371 into a Bitcoin ATM in Skokie. No evidence exists to believe the employee was complicit with this theft.
  • A Chicago resident reported on Nov. 6 that their front license plate had been stolen off their car while it was parked at a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Ave during the overnight hours.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road called police at 1:28 p.m. Nov. 6, to report they had encountered someone on Glenview Road waving a full-size American flag who told her, “don’t worry lady, you can still have an abortion,” followed by “anytime you wanna go” prior to running away. They felt threatened by the second comment, but did not wish to sign complaints. If identified, the business wishes for them to be trespassed.
  • A customer of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 4:20 p.m. Nov. 9, a male was masturbating in one of the aisles. Employees did not observe the act, but did locate the described male with his penis exposed. He was also observed pushing a stroller with a male toddler inside. The male was asked to leave the store, which he did.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Rugen Road resident reported at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 6, someone had fraudulently used their debit card to make an online purchase in the amount of $69.56. They said the transaction was flagged by the bank and they are no longer liable for it.
  • A Greenacres Lane resident called police to report someone had stolen their debit card and used it for multiple unauthorized transactions between Nov. 4 and Nov. 6, totaling $2,866.38.
  • A Basswood Circle resident reported at 2:01 p.m. Nov. 7, they had been contacted by their bank asking if they were trying to cash a check in Minnesota. They told them they were not and the bank did not complete the transaction. They were still in possession of their checkbook. The bank told them several forged checks were attempted to be cashed, with one successful transaction in the amount of $6,593.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police on Nov. 8 to report someone had broken the rear window of their vehicle while it was parked in the employee lot between 7:45 a.m. and 5 p.m. The estimated loss was $1,000.

UNWANTED PERSON

An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Willow Road reported at 8:46 p.m. Nov. 8, a customer had refused to leave after being asked to leave due to strange behavior of standing near the service desk watching employees and asking about the surveillance cameras. The customer left without incident.

ASSAULT

An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 10:52 a.m. Nov. 9, being assaulted by another employee over union related issues. The accused employee
denied the accusations. The business is conducting an internal investigation regarding the
incident.

FRAUD

A resident of the 1900 block of Tanglewood Drive called police at 1:48 p.m. Nov. 10, to report hiring a contractor to clean the gutters on their roof. The unknown contractor said he needed to put a hole in the roof to inspect it, in addition to a hole in the bedroom ceiling. The contractor told them he would charge $25,000 to repair the hole, which the homeowner gave him $6,000 as a deposit. They then realized it was a scam and asked the contractor for a refund, but the contractor then left immediately in his vehicle.
