Richard Chuk, 39, of the 900 block of Green Bay Road, Winnetka, had a warrant out of Lake County for failure to appear, and was arrested at 12:54 p.m. Jan. 28, following a LEADS check. He was taken to the Glenview police station, processed and then taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was turned over to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue reported that between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 30, they received a phone call on the main business line. The person identified himself as the corporate supervisor and directed the employee to deposit $2,800 into the bitcoin ATM. The employee deposited the funds into a Bitcoin ATM before realizing it was a scam.
  • A Castilian Court resident reported on Jan. 30 that seven days earlier, they received a phone call from a mediation group regarding a debt owed from Cash Net. They were told to pay $300, or they would be reported to the three major credit bureaus. The victim made the payment and later learned it was a scam.
  • A Clearwater, Florida resident reported that between Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, someone stole $1,000 in cash from their room at a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
  • A business owner in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported on Feb. 2 that in October, they sent $3,170.00 via Zelle to a customer to cover food and delivery costs. The customer's credit card was later declined, and the business owner learned it was a scam.
  • A Winnetka resident reported at 1:27 p.m. Feb. 3, their wallet missing after completing a transaction at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road.
  • A Des Plaines resident reported that between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 4, their wallet was stolen while they were at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road.
  • A resident in the 700 block of Waukegan Road reported that between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Feb. 2, someone stole their Whirlpool ice cube filter from the front door area after it had been delivered earlier that day.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Glenview Road resident called police on Jan. 31, to report that three days earlier, someone used their personal identifying information to open a BMO Business Debit Mastercard.
  • A Covert Road resident reported on Feb. 4 that on Jan. 22, they received a bill for $152.81 from AT&T regarding an account that had been opened in their name.
  • A Bellwood Avenue resident reported that on Feb. 5, they were alerted via email that a chime bank account was opened in their name.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive called police at 10:19 a.m. Feb. 3, to report a resident exposed their genitals to them while they were cleaning the building.

RETAIL THEFT

  • The manager of a business in the 1800 block of Tower Drive reported on Feb. 2 that two days earlier, a male and female entered the store and stole eight cell phones.
  • The loss prevention manager of a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 2:09 p.m. Feb. 3, two unknown people loaded a shopping cart full of alcohol bottles and exited the store without paying for the items.
  • The loss prevention manager of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road called police at 3:13 p.m. Feb. 3, to report two unknown offenders concealed cosmetics inside a bag. The offenders left the store without paying for the items.
  • The loss prevention officer at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road called police at 7:48 p.m. Feb. 3, to report a known offender was seen in the store selecting trading cards and concealing them in his pants.
  • The loss prevention manager of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported that between 6:52 p.m. and 6:58 p.m. Feb. 1, two females loaded a baby stroller full of cosmetic items before leaving the store without paying for the merchandise.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 800 block of Wagner Road called police to report that between 11:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. Feb. 2, someone entered their home through a broken window and took four designer handbags, a jewelry box containing several pieces of jewelry, and an unknown amount of money.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident in the 1500 block of Lehigh Avenue reported that between Feb. 2 and Feb. 4, someone removed their sedan from the parking lot of their residence. The vehicle was later located parked on the street by Waukegan Police.
