Soccer Players Get Into Fight During Game: Glenview Police Blotter

An investigation was held to determine whether mutually physical actions between the trio were part of game or rising to criminal action.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION

Tomasz Kalembasa, 40, of the 300 block of Park Lane, Park Ridge, had a warrant out of Glenview for violation of an order of protection, and was arrested at 2:34 p.m. May 17, in the 100 block of Waukegan Road. He was taken to a condition hearing on May 19.

INCIDENTS

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • A manager of a business in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported at 10:01 a.m. May 14, a woman wearing only underwear was seen on surveillance video at 5:20 a.m. She is seen in the area of a fire alarm pull station just prior to the fire alarm going off, and then seen running toward the parking garage after the alarm goes off. It is unknown if she pulled the alarm.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of Evergreen Terrace called police on May 15 to report they were a victim of disorderly conduct to a comment made online toward them.

BURGLARY

A resident in the 3000 block of Dell reported at 7:59 a.m. May 14, someone had been walking in the neighborhood and had entered a neighbor's garage in the 1000 block of Glenwood Lane. They confronted the person inside the garage while they were trying to remove a bicycle from a ceiling mount. The homeowner advised no one should be in the garage and that the bicycle had been moved. Officers located the person in the area who said they were going to use the bicycle to hide behind in the garage to sleep.

BATTERY

  • A Northbrook resident called police at 6:49 p.m. May 15, to report being punched in the face by a homeless man while they were behind a business in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They said the male stole their phone two months ago in Prospect Heights and when they saw him, they confronted them about the incident. The man then punched them in the face and ran away.
  • A Chicago resident called police on May 17 to report three days earlier, they had been the victim of a battery at their workplace in the 3400 block of West Lake Avenue.
  • Two athletic players were involved in a physical altercation with another player while playing soccer at 10:45 a.m. May 19, in the 1900 block of Johns Drive. The investigation was unable to determine whether mutually physical actions between the group were part of normal play or rising to criminal actions.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 100 block of Waukegan Road called police at 5:39 p.m. May 15, to report a 6-foot man, wearing a black beanie, black zip up sweatshirt and black Adidas sweatpants, entered the store and said he was interested in purchasing two IPhone 15 Pro Max cell phones. The employee retrieved the items from the back of the store, and then the male said he wanted to purchase a speaker, pointing to the wall. The employee looked toward the speaker and while their back was turned, the man took the phones and ran out of the store, entering a red SUV, unknown make/model. Total loss is $2,598.
  • An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road called police at 11:48 a.m. May 20, to report a Park Ridge resident had concealed several items in their purse before passing the last point of purchase without paying for the items. They were stopped outside by security. They were issued a village ordinance citation for theft. The total amount of recovered items was $366.15.

THEFT OF MISLAID PROPERTY

A Highland Park resident called police on May 16 to report she had accidentally left her rings on a desk at a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Blvd six days prior. She left the business and discovered the rings lost. Upon returning to the business, the rings were not found. Total loss is $2,500.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 700 block of Wagner Road called police on May 16 to report five days earlier, the front plate on their vehicle had been stolen.
  • A resident in the 2300 block of Greenwood Road called police on May 17 to report they had discovered a check had been stolen from them and later forged and cashed for $33,500. Two additional fraudulent transactions were discovered with a total loss of $37,500.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident int he 1800 block of Chestnut Avenue reported their home had been burglarized between 10:50 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. May 17. Someone had made entry through the rear sliding door, which was locked with a wooden pole between the doors. Jewelry worth $9,000 was stolen from the bedrooms.

NEIGHBOR DISPUTE

Two residents in the 100 block of Waukegan Road called police on May 17 to report they had been involved in a verbal argument over the use of a common area of their building. The neighbors were advised to stay away from each other and to contact the building management company.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Winchester Lane resident reported on May 18 they had been the victim of identity theft when they received a Verizon bill in the mail. The bill was for $178, but they never signed up for Verizon.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A Chicago resident visiting a business in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue on May 18 reported a burglary to their parked vehicle. The victim said $1,200 in cash was stolen from the vehicle.

CITIZEN ASSIST

A Glenview resident reported at 1:33 p.m. May 19, what they believed to be a fraudulent GoFundMe page related to the recent fatal traffic accident in Glenview. They found inconsistencies with facts regarding the funeral services and beneficiary’s name. The page was reported to GoFundMe as fraudulent and the resident did not donate any funds to it. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A Carriage Hill Drive resident reported at 7:07 p.m. May 19, that multiple iPhones in their household received a notification that an unidentified Apple AirTag was tracking them. No household members had any knowledge of an AirTag and one did appear to be detected inside the residence. An extensive search yielded negative results of any tracking devices.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

An employee of a business in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported on May 20 that the business had received a personal check from a customer to cash for $2,000 on May 1. The business cashed the check. The account came back later as insufficient funds. After several attempts to make contact, they spoke with the customer who agreed to come in on May 14 and pay the money back, but they never returned.
