GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • Someone used the credit card number of a Lizette Lane resident to buy a camera for $715 on Nov. 11.
  • Someone racked up $576 in charges to a cell phone bill using the identity of a Park Lane resident prior to Nov. 12.
  • After someone stole a phone and wallet from a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road, a thief or thieves stole more than $1,500 at unknown ATMs and businesses prior to Nov. 13.
  • A Parkview Road resident reported on the morning of Nov. 13 that someone had used their identity to open an unauthorized cable TV account before accruing nearly $380 in charges between March 1, 2017, and June 20, 2017.
  • Between June and August, someone made a series of unauthorized, small charges to a food delivery service totaling $1,600, a Rugen Road resident reported on Nov. 14.
  • Someone used the cell phone account number and personal identification number to transfer the resident's business cell phone number to a different wireless service prior to Nov. 18.

SUSPICIOUS KNOCKER
Staff at a business in the 3400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 11 a.m. Nov. 13 that they had seen an unidentified man twice on the property knocking on the front and back doors.

THEFT
Someone stole a piece of plumbing worth $850 from the side of a house in the 2500 block of Violet Street.

ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
A Ammer Ridge Court resident reported around 2:45 p.m. Nov. 14 they were being harassed on social media after the resident commented on a public post.

MISSING LICENSE PLATE
A resident in the 1500 block of Tripp Lane reported around 8 a.m. Nov. 14 that their back license plate was missing for a loss of $10.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
The owner of a business in the 200 block of Greenwood Road reported around 1 p.m. Nov. 14 that someone entered and stole $1,170 from an office.

GIFT CARD SCAM
A Winnetka Road resident was convinced to buy $750 in gift cards and provide an unidentified scammer the card codes over the phone prior to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 14.

LOST WALLET
A wallet was lost in the 1900 block of Waukegan Road prior to 5:30 p.m. Nov 14 for a loss of more than $100.

DISPUTES

  • A food delivery service employee reported around 6:15 p.m. Nov. 14 that they had been engaged in a verbal argument of an order with an employee of Shiroi Sushi, 9717 Milwaukee Ave.
  • A resident of the first block of North Branch Road reported getting into a verbal dispute with a driver for a ride-hailing service on Nov. 15.
  • A resident in the 1600 block of Greenwood Road reported having a verbal dispute with a neighbor around 11:15 p.m. Nov. 17 after the resident believed the neighbor had been knocking on their window.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a car from the driveway of a home in the 3800 block of Chester Drive between 6 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 15

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged a window on the north side of a home in the 2500 block of Osage Drive, seemingly with a BB gun, causing $425 in damage between 1 p.m. Nov. 14 and 3 p.m. Nov. 15.

BATTERY
An employee of a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported around 11 a.m. Nov. 17 that two co-workers had battered them after an argument over work duties.

RETAIL THEFTS

  • The manager of an unspecified business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported on Nov. 17 that someone had stolen a golf club set valued at $984.74 and fled the store around 8 p.m. the day before.
  • Around 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 18, police got a call from staff at a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road to report a man or boy who had stolen multiple books worth $40 over the course of several days was at the store. An officer found the admitted thief, who made an arrangement with the business to return the books.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Daniel Chin, 50, of the 7900 block of Kilbourn Avenue, Skokie, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Nov. 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended license after police pulled him over in the 300 block of Waukegan Road. He was also issued a citation for speeding between 15 and 20 mph over the speed limit.

A 28-year-old women was issued a local ordinance citation around 6 p.m. Nov. 14 after stealing a pair of earrings worth $66.36 from an unspecified business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.

A 28-year-old woman was issued a local ordinance citation around 11:15 a.m. Nov. 15 after stealing a $72 bottle of cologne from an unspecified business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.
