Woman Faces Felony Charges From Fatal 2021 Glenview Hit-And-Run
Ewelina Pikulska, of Mount Prospect, is accused of 2 felony crimes from a hit-and-run that killed a Wheeling man on his bike in August.

GLENVIEW, IL — A Mount Prospect woman has been formally charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident in August of last year in which a Wheeling man was killed while riding his bicycle in Glenview. Ewelina Pikulska, 40, of the 1100 block of Hunt Club Drive, Mount Prospect, is accused of felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and leaving the scene of an accident involving death with failure to report within 30 minutes.

Pikulska is due for a bond hearing Saturday.

In October 2021, Pikulska, who was living in Des Plaines at the time, was arrested in Okaloosa County, Florida, following a nationwide warrant stemming from the incident. She was extradited to Glenview and an investigation was conducted, with the findings released Friday.
The investigation revealed, according to police, that Pikulska was driving her gray 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport south of Sanders Road near South Parkway Drive at 3:05 a.m. Aug. 21, 2001, when she is accused of striking Trinidad Salgado, 59, who was riding his bike in the roadway.

Police said Pikulska did not stop her vehicle following the crash, left the area without rendering medical aid to Salgado and did not notify police of the crash.
Delgado was taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Glenview Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force’s Major Crash Assistance Team and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
