Former Speechwriter for Jeb Bush Joins Grayslake Village Board

Adam Shores will fill a vacant seat left when longtime trustee Amy Edwards resigned.

GRAYSLAKE, IL - A former speechwriter for Jeb Bush’s office will be joining the Grayslake Village Board . Adam Shores currently works as a senior manager for public affairs at Allstate Insurance but worked in Jeb Bush’s office in 2004 to 2005.

The Grayslake Village Board on Tuesday voted 5-0 in favor of appointing Shores to their board, according to the Daily Herald. Shores, whose family moved to Grayslake in 2009, is hoping to use his time on the Grayslake Village Board to help diversify the tax base and spur economic growth.

"What can we do to strengthen and enhance small business growth," Shores told the Daily Herald. "Looking at bringing new businesses into the community, but also what can we do to support our existing businesses."

Shores will fill a vacant seat on the village board left when longtime trustee Amy Edwards resigned. Her resignation, which became effective Sunday, came as her family plans to move out of state. She first started on the village board in 2005 and her term is up in 2017.

“Amy Edwards has been an outstanding leader for Grayslake. During her almost twelve years on the Board she has provided the Board with valuable insights and sound judgment. She has helped make Grayslake even better," Mayor Rhett Taylor said.
