Highland Park Trick-Or-Treat Hours, Halloween Safety Guidelines

City officials encouraged residents to celebrate Halloween safely this year in light of health concerns due to COVID-19.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — City officials in Highland Park and Highwood have designated Halloween trick-or-treating hours as 3 to 7 p.m. this year.

Highland Park city staff encouraged trick-or-treaters to wear face coverings as a courtesy to others, especially when visiting the homes of seniors, who are at a greater risk of serious illness from COVID-19.

Staff recommended residents avoid having trick-or-treaters ring doorbells or take treats from communal bowls. Everyone should regularly sanitize their hands during trick-or-treating hours, staff advised. And all trick-or-treaters were encourages to be respectful of the decision of residents to participate this year.

Households that want trick-or-treaters coming to their door were asked to turn on their outdoor lights or post signage on their doors.

3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 28: Halloween candy stroll at Renaissance Place for children 12 and under

6:30 p.m., Oct. 28: Drive-in showing of Hocus Pocus at the Highland Park Recreation Center.

3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 29: Haunted Highwood, trick-or-treating in downtown Highwood with a storefront decorating contest.
