Featured obituary:

Roger Sherwood Anfinsen, sadly passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the age of 76. He was born on July 11, 1941 in Aurora, Illinois, to Anita and Ernest Anfinsen. Roger graduated from Aurora West High School in 1959.

On June 2, 1962, he married Carol Ann Hess at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois. Together, they had two daughters, Christine and Elizabeth. He was a kind and patient father. He loved to work in his work shop and rebuild any electronics. He enjoyed any electrical challenge.

Roger was very accomplished in his career. He was a master engineer at RCA in Chicago in 1962.

After 10 years, he built and opened the first 24-track recording studio in Chicago for Curtis Mayfield. He was awarded seven gold records for his engineering skills for a variety of artists including Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, The Staple Singers, and the Soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever.

In addition to his albums, he also recorded the soundtracks for the movies Superfly, Three the Hard Way, Sparkle, and Claudine.

Roger and Carol enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carol; daughters, Christine, and Elizabeth (Brian); 3 grandchildren Yana Snyder, Nicole and Samantha Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.
