Sen. Julie Morrison Holding Highland Park Town Hall
The 29th District state senator will give an update Saturday on her recent work in Springfield as the session draws to a close.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — State Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) is holding a town hall Saturday to give constituents a legislative update as the legislative session approaches summer break. The event aims to inform voters about what's been going on recently in Springfield and offer a previous of what's left for the final five weeks of the session.
Morrison highlighted recent bills she sponsored that have recently advanced through the Senate and await votes in the House, including the Lethal Violence Order of Protection Act (HB772), a requirement for school buses to have working stop signal arms and flashing lights (SB2482) and a bill to make Illinois the sixth state to raise the minimum age to buy tobacco to 21 (SB2332).

Two days earlier, Morrison's opponent on the November ballot, Republican Barret Davie, is holding a volunteer kickoff event from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 at his campaign's newly opened campaign offices at 506 N. Western Ave. in Lake Forest.

The 29th Illinois Senate District includes the 57th and 58th House districts, represented by the recently appointed Rep. Jonathan Carroll (D-Northbrook) and the soon to be departing Rep. Scott Drury (D-Highwood).
It includes all or part of Arlington Heights, Bannockburn, Buffalo Grove, Deerfield, Des Plaines, Glencoe, Glenview, Highland Park, Highwood, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Mount Prospect, North Chicago, Northbrook, Palatine, Prospect Heights, Riverwoods and Wheeling.
