In Lake County, construction on the second stage of work on Peterson Road got underway in May, the Daily Herald reports. The $15 million project is meant to create a transportation corridor in central Lake County.
The project calls for the widening of Peterson Road to four lanes from just west of 83 to just west of Alleghany Road in the village of Grayslake. The intersection at Alleghany Road will be improved and Alleghany Road will be resurfaced from Peterson Road to south of Route 120, according to the Lake County Division of Transportation website.

An asphalt bike path will be installed along the north side of Peterson Road.
Currently, detention ponds are being constructed along the south side of Peterson. Grading work for the future westbound lanes is also underway, according to an update posted on the Lake County website.
Meanwhile, construction work has started on the Washington Street underpass in Hainesville.
The Washington Street Underpass project consists of widening and reconstructing Washington Street from Haryan Way to Lake Street. Washington Street will be lowered and a new railroad bridge will be constructed over Washington Street eliminating the current at-grade crossing.
All lanes of the roadway are expected to be re-opened to traffic by November 2016. Updates on the Washington Street project can be found on the project website.
