Management Changes At Hinsdale Village Hall

The village names a new clerk, while a longtime official plans to leave next month.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale has named Emily Tompkins as the new village clerk.

Village President Tom Cauley made the announcement at Tuesday's Village Board meeting.

Tompkins is the former deputy clerk in Downers Grove. She is expected to begin her minute-taking duties at the Village Board's first meeting in February.

Tompkins replaced Christine Bruton, who retired in early December after a 17-year career with the village. Bruton was known as the "cheerful" voice at Village Hall.

Assistant Village Manager Andrianna Peterson has been filling in as clerk since Bruton left.

Peterson, who was hired last August, is expected to assume Assistant Village Manager Bradley Bloom's role in February. He is retiring.

The second assistant village manager's position for which Peterson was hired was newly created in anticipation of Bloom's departure.

Bloom has been in his job for seven years. He was Hinsdale's police chief for 14 years before that.
