Housekeeping Associate At Marian Village Positive For Coronavirus

The associate, who is not exhibiting any symptoms, received a positive result May 5, and was immediately sent home for self-isolation.

HOMER GLEN, IL — A housekeeping associate at Marian Village in Homer Glen has tested positive for the coronavirus, Franciscan Ministries shared on their website. The associate was not showing any signs of the coronavirus, but decided to get tested on May 1 as a precautionary measure, President and CEO Judy Amiano shared on the website.

The associate received a positive result May 5, and was immediately sent home for self-isolation. Amiano said the associate still is not exhibiting any signs of the virus.

"This staff member had no direct care responsibilities anywhere on the campus and wore a mask 100 percent of the time while in the building due to the infection control procedures and policies that have been in place," Amiano wrote.

According to Franciscan Ministries, the facility is in communication with local and state health officials. There are no additional residents or staff members who are exhibiting any signs of infection at this time.

"Per our discussions with state and local health departments, we are following all guidance we are receiving regarding protection for our staff as well as the other residents," Amiano wrote. "Their recommendations at this time are to monitor all residents and staff across the community. There is no recommendation to test anyone for the COVID-19 virus unless they would become symptomatic."

Franciscan Ministries operates Marian Village, 15624 Marian Drive, as well as several other facilities in the Chicago area. In Illinois, Franciscan Ministries facilities include Addolorata Villa in Wheeling, Franciscan Village in Lemont, St. James Senior Estates in Crete, and The Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst.

In Will County, IDPH is reporting there are 468 cases of coronavirus in long-term care facilities and 84 related deaths. Symphony of Joliet remains the facility with the highest number of cases and deaths in Will County; the facility has 127 reported cases of the coronavirus and 24 related deaths.
