Man Dies In Fiery Crash In Lockport: Coroner

The man's name is being withheld, pending positive identification, the coroner's office said.

LOCKPORT, IL — A man was killed in a crash Wednesday on New Avenue in Lockport, the Will County Coroner's Office said.

On Wednesday night, a vehicle was traveling southbound in the 15000 block of South New Avenue, when it left the road, struck a utility pole and caught fire, the coroner's office said. The man was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m. Wednesday at the scene of the crash.

A preliminary autopsy report on Thursday showed severe thermal injuries, the coroner's office said.

The coroner's office is withholding the man's pending positive identification and the Lockport Police Department is investigating the incident.
